He called it his worse foreign policy mistake. He's transactional looking to advantage the USA - not bad way to go

Graduating cadets in the government academies and in college ROTC know that as Lieutenants and Captain company grade officers the sooner they get into kinetic conflict the better for them as Soldiers and the better for their careers as junior officers angling for rank as Major which opens the door to field commands of larger units and more enemy killed.

Your post tries to portray the USA armed forces junior officers as wanting you to tuck 'em into their safe bunks each night so they don't get out there to fight and defeat the enemy which is what the armed forces live and train to do. Your post is condescending and wrong. It's the Trump line that the armed forces exist only to parade for him rather than the armed forces be the lean mean fighting machine his vacuous rhetoric blurbs about all the time.

Yes they are warriors, and as Trump said their job is to defeat the enemy. But "Kinetic conflicts" like Iraq and Afghanistan

Trump is breaking the von Clausewitz sequence, scenario, interrelationship of state operations.

We know Trump's diplomacy is personal and transactional. It's about bucks for himself and his family, yes. In Europe it's personally pleasing Putin in Ukraine and it's pay to play for NATO or else. In East Asia Trump's diplomacy is chaos toward China, Russia in the "Far East" and NK -- not to mention our allies.

There's no diplomacy for the USA military to fight for as the extension of diplomacy. Trump is not being diplomatic about Greenland; he's not being diplomatic about Panama and Trump is not being diplomatic about cartels in Mexico. The president of Mexico said no to US military intervention / incursion to destroy the cartels so there's no diplomacy there either. It's simply Trump doing what he wants to do no matter of diplomacy. Trump hates negotiations which is the core of diplomacy. Trump is Bigfoot with a club.

As has been stated, Trump has no foreign policy. He has only his cafeteria moods and impulses. Greenland for lunch today, Mexican cartels for dinner tomorrow. Trump's ambassadors are big donors who are told not to bother him from "over there." Diplomacy is too complex for the moron Trump is.

When I watch the video while keeping the tweet text in view, it sounds like "but". If I close my eyes, more times than not it sounds like "or".

I don't appear to be the only one he hears "but" so I wonder if it's the same with others who see the words while listening to the audio of the clip.

One of those weird brain trips.

If he said "but" the beginning of the next sentence wouldn't flow right. It's the next sentence where he clarifies the military's role.

The first sentence is a list off things they shouldn't be doing.

Not likely. It is typical that the press is given advanced copies of prepared speeches by the president so they have the ability to go to press immediately following the president's remarks. That he went off script is a characteristic of Trump.

does but work? It changes the meaning to agreeing with "spread democracy at the barrel of a gun"
