Probably a good idea!I talked my youngest out of plumbing and into plumbing supply. He was just into his twenties at $80k to start. Plus about $15k (+$5 if he took half into his 401k) in profit sharing each Feb.
I’m a commercial plumber. I’ve done stuff just like that, but most of the work is fairly easy and on the ground. They make backhoes for digging and lifts so you can stand on a platform and pull wire. They also make laborers and apprentices to do most of the physical work. Sure I’ve got tools on my truck but they are mostly for show.I can see you've never hung industrial conduit or pulled wire. Forty feet in the air on a scissor lift. I have. Its hard dangerous work.
. Sure its not real tough to go into a house and switch out a breaker panel.
The trades suck, just about exclusively. Roofing, siding, plumbing, electrical, framing, I've done every bit of that. Concrete is one of the worst. Masonry.
You dont want to spend any real time doing that.
During covid, I went on a ladder for a year. House painting and building/restoring decks. Great for my physique, bad for my lower back and knees. I also powerwashed myself off a ladder from too far up to be funny.
NoDo you have the means to go to law school?
That's flattering but I don't consider myself to be exceptionally intelligent. More that I realize where my limits are intellectually, rather than being a victim of dunning-krugerYou strike me as an intelligent guy from previous posts/threads.
NoDo you have a degree?
Don't remember anything but landing on my stinging feet, a guttural howl in my throat, and my friend telling me he'd warned me.OMy!! lol I hope you didn't get too injured!! I have to admit I chuckled a bit.
Yeah, their reply really was not helpful at all.Oh sorry I've been spending all my time with my thumb firmly panted up my rear. Thanks, it never occurred to me that getting a job requires doing anything else
You got some free capital laying around to start a business? I take cashapp, paypal, venmo. A cashier's check.Disagree. It is reality. The first person who makes excuses, loses. No one owes you a job. You look for the opportunities you want, and if you can't find them , you MAKE them. LUCK is where opportunity meets preparation.

Stop making excuses and start networking.
Getting a job is a FULL TIME JOB.
This 20s-30s generation needs to get out and start shaking hands----getting involved. Yeah---it burns me when I hear excuses, and job seekers blaming something besides themselves.Nah. Came in really hot, there, shade.

Well I'm glad you survived. Safety is important, we're constantly making sure the guys are safe! But, you know, you could get hit by a car on the way to your office job, nothings free from accidents. It's just a decent pay for little to no schooling for a lot of people who don't want the office life. There are those people who don't think a cubical is where they want to spend most of their lives. Thankfully there are jobs for everyone, depending on what you like.Don't remember anything but landing on my stinging feet, a guttural howl in my throat, and my friend telling me he'd warned me.

Also, grant writer. Helps if there's solid bookkeeping exp/training, but you can make 10 to 20% per grant, and there are a lot of NFPs desperate for grant writers.Yeah, their reply really was not helpful at all.
Something you could consider is bookkeeping or accounting. I hate to suggest it, but look into tax preparation, etc. Your local community college may have classes that you can take that would help you to pick up those type of skills at low cost.
Another thought is nursing. There are ALWAYS a shortage of nurses...and you could start out with an associates degree (LPN or CNA) and build from there.
Take a coding bootcamp! I know a few people who got pretty decent jobs after doing that at a University, coding for them. They make a good amount, enough to live for sure.No

I am not trying to be rude or lecture. I am giving you the best advice out there. Follow it and you will succeed. Remember, that person in the mirror is the #1 job creator in the world. Sorry I came off as rude. Good luck (but remember, "luck" is being prepared and finding an opportunity that meets that preparation).Wow, that's so rude. Don't even bother commenting if you aren't going to say anything helpful.
What is it with your posts and constantly lecturing people?
I'll give it a tryAnyway, @instagramsci. Seriously, check out your union locals if you have some spare hours. I would recommend going to their halls/business ofcs. Might be something for you that route.
People hire who they KNOW....period. You have to do something that makes you stand out from the 300 applications. You're wearing rose colored glasses projecting an image onto a world that no longer exists
People don't pound the pavement anymore
Very few employers hire anyone off the street. I've tried. I get directed to websites to apply

I have to wonder why physical work is something people avoid like the plague. lolSo yeah after you've been doing it for years you may work into something easier physically. What I'm saying is avoid that. Go into something physically easier to begin with.
And if you have a car - gig jobs can help pay the bills.I'll give it a try
We can't get mates or deckhands and we pay well.I have to wonder why physical work is something people avoid like the plague. lol
