The international community is a phrase used in international relations in reference to themselves by the United States of America and its allies in the widest sense. It does not refer literally to all peoples, cultures and governments of the world. The term is used to imply the existence of common duties and obligations between them. Activists, politicians and commentators often use the term, in the context of calls for action to be taken against political repression and to protect human rights.
No offence, but that is just plain wrong. The only structure to fit that description is the UN. Are "The International community" and "UN" synonyms?
They should be the same thing; and the United States, it's Government and its Citizens should avoild any/all contact with the International Community at all costs.
Communities by definition aren't international.
: a group of people who live in the same area (such as a city, town, or neighborhood)
: a group of people who have the same interests, religion, race, etc.
: a group of nations

the policy led to widespread condemnation from the international community
You know, you are right.Lets check out the Oxford dictionary:
Well, this is also an oxymoron since to have a community you have to have common goals defined and accepted. And I was wrong, even the UN is not the International community as not all countries of the world are in it.
Now, it turns out both definitions, wikipedia and Oxford Dictionary are BS.
There currently seems to be a disagreement on what constitutes a "like minded" nation! Since BHO refers to himself as an "internationalist," not as an American, that seems to open up a wide field of possibilities! I don't agree with the concept of becoming a third-world socialist country, just so everyone, except the elite across the globe, is equally poor! :bs:
