I just had to look that up and what I found almost made me laugh:

International community - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

The international community is a phrase used in international relations in reference to themselves by the United States of America and its allies in the widest sense. It does not refer literally to all peoples, cultures and governments of the world. The term is used to imply the existence of common duties and obligations between them. Activists, politicians and commentators often use the term, in the context of calls for action to be taken against political repression and to protect human rights.

No offence, but that is just plain wrong. The only structure to fit that description is the UN.
Are "The International community" and "UN" synonyms?

They should be the same thing; and the United States, it's Government and its Citizens should avoild any/all contact with the International Community at all costs.

The term is an oxymoron. Communities by definition aren't international. The UN is just a corrupt anti American quasi governmental institution that is best ignored.

In today's jargon, the "international community" simply refers to a need by America and others to seek consensus among like-minded nations for an international action they are afraid to take on by themselves.

Yes, after all... being a felon and wanting suicide by cop is not something we should put on other countries!

There currently seems to be a disagreement on what constitutes a "like minded" nation! Since BHO refers to himself as an "internationalist," not as an American, that seems to open up a wide field of possibilities! I don't agree with the concept of becoming a third-world socialist country, just so everyone, except the elite across the globe, is equally poor! :bs:

Good afternoon, CJ! :2wave:

You may have better argumentative grounds with more serious sources.

You know, you are right. ;) Lets check out the Oxford dictionary:

Phrases

the international community - the countries of the world considered collectively:
the policy led to widespread condemnation from the international community

Well, this is also an oxymoron since to have a community you have to have common goals defined and accepted. And I was wrong, even the UN is not the International community as not all countries of the world are in it.

Now, it turns out both definitions, wikipedia and Oxford Dictionary are BS.

If that is so then it is just a vague concept used to capture the imagination of the audience as if the whole world is watching and (more importantly) wanting for a certain intervention to occur.

Except he never has, you just made that up, you lied.

You're a terrible person....

There is no international community.

There are just vested interests which occasionally coincide.

It's like the 'village' Hillary was always talking about.

And no I don't want them raising my grandkids.

The "International Community" is for those "Citizens of the World" who we should be throwing out of the United States to begin with. People like the United Nations and their lackeys.... SecState John Kerry, for example.
