The FBI Recovered 11 Sets Of Classified Documents, Including Some Marked Top Secret, From Mar-a-Lago

Anyone talking about how the government agencies have to assume all that classified info is "compromised" and they have to reshuffle how they do things?

I don't believe you. You seem completely ignorant on it. Just for FYI, I spent 21 years in the military and spent some of that time at the War College dealing with the checking in and out of classified documents......in fact, tho it's been decades, I'm on the hook for LIFE on anything I signed for.
Awesome. Good job. But you have failed at OPSEC

You are not even calling it AT WILL, you are calling it "in his own mind". Sorry....that is just not so. Think of the utter madness within US Government if that were so.
Just relaying what I read. I think some of it's untested judicially...but given his broad immunity, and broad pardon powers, this wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Does the president have 'the ability to declassify anything at any time'? - mostly true

Steven Aftergood, director of the Federation of American Scientists Project on Government Secrecy, said that such authority gives the president the authority to "classify and declassify at will."
I don't think DOJ would attempt to prosecute Trump on anything requiring that documents he had were "classified", based on this sort of thing. Notice the 3 statutes in the search warrant don't involve "classification".

As to "held to account" if you are trying to make a statement about possible prosecution that is only certain kind of holding to account.
Trump has multiple legal investigations he's navigating right now. But then, he's had them all his adult life. His supporters don't care.

I'm guessing it's really the independents/moderates that matter, and I think they had enough for 4 years of Trump, and helped vote him out in 2020.
Other than losing another election, or an indictment (which seems slim at best), I don't see him being "held to account". Right wing media is defending him up and down right now.

The DoJ wont release any information, but we will be getting anonymously sourced leaks for the next several months that can neither be proven of disproven. We went through this for Trumps entire presidency and and its about to start all over again.
Lol, you didn't get the memo? The warrant has been unsealed.

You commies are aware that a president can declassify any document, right?
But did he? Have you heard him say he declassified the ones at his 'residence' where he legally is not supposed to be living.

You know that the trump lawyer admitted the family was watching the entire raid on closed circuit tv, right?
they aren't everywhere

Awesome. Good job. But you have failed at OPSEC

Do you think the President can declassify things just by holding up a piece of paper alone in a room and saying “I declare thee declassified!”?

Because declassification requires RECORD KEEPING. Declassification doesn’t make the single copy of a classified document unclassified. It makes ALL COPIES of that document everywhere unclassified.

And that requires records of the event and for them to be disseminated throughout the intelligence community.

And if you will look at the STATUTE you will see that they have their OWN classification which have NOTHING to do with the classifications established by EO...

The term “Restricted Data” means all data concerning (1) design, manufacture, or utilization of atomic weapons; (2) the production of special nuclear material; or (3) the use of special nuclear material in the production of energy, but shall not include data declassified or removed from the Restricted Data category pursuant to section 2162 of this title.
.... Respectfully, I don't think that says what you seem to think it says.

Its the AT WILL that seems to be overplayed. Fine.....there are certain types of documents that the President can declassify at will. However it is non-sensical to then think that he can keep that new status for a document to himself? That is nonsensical. He is not the Emperor of the United States. He is not a King. As such it becomes incumbent on citizens to recognize the risk we just ran by putting Donald Trump in the Oval.

I will submit somewhat in agreement with you that the Founders did not contemplate that the American People would elect to the Presidency a man as completely self-consumed, self absorbed, unscrupulous and utterly devoid of public service as Donald Trump. I can certainly buy that. It takes a real piece of work to determine "well I can just declassify this stuff whenever I want to and not tell anybody that I have done it". He is the totally vapid man. I cannot possibly think of something more destined to grind the gears of National Security to a halt nor something more narcissistic. There is no such thing as "National Security" with a President like that and as such it is not hard to imagine that there was no actual National Security while Donald Trump was in the Oval Office.

So the question is only partially whether DOJ prosecutes over this particular issue or not. Trump has enough Civil Tort and potential criminal prosecution on his plate to keep him busy for the rest of his life. However look at how much damage he has done to the GOP. Those baboon Senators and Congressmen have been careening from pillar to post unable to contain their interest in spitting dangerous and inciting venom over what has happened to their poor Donnie. When in fact nothing but Donnie's own hubris is responsible for what has happened to Donnie.

Are we willing to put Donnie back in the Oval again? Do we really think we should send the careening clown car of GOP Senators and Congressmen back to The Hill again? I actually think that finally, the entire Donnie experience has done irreparable damage to the GOP and has actually completely sunk Donnie's own political future.

We may just set a record this week for the amount of bullshit slung by Trump supporters....

I certainly hope so!

I certainly hope so!
IMO, what Trump will be left with and what a goodly part of the GOP will be left with is the "burn it all to the ground crowd, the burn the Republic to the ground crowd". Now that is not an insignificant percentage of the citizenry any longer. However it is not a mandate. It is the opposite of a mandate. It is a mob, a thuggish mob willing to sell the entire Republic down the drain because I guess this country has simply not done enough for them, the greatest economy in history, the longest lasting Democratic Republic in history has not done enough for them.

I an encouraged that they can no longer contain themselves. That you can tease out their anger and their burn it all down nonsense to the point where they simply cannot help but tell you that is their intention.

What is going to be left of this crowd should look in the mirror. Their insistence on one man being their salvation is the tell of all tells. It is the anti-American tell of all time.

Yes, the security video tapes at mar a largo.

In fact, trump watched the whole thing on video as it happened. He was in NYC at the time.

So the planting of evidence is a bunch of garbage. If someone had planted evidence, it would be on those tapes and trump would have made sure we saw those tapes 24-7 for weeks.
We may see highly edited portions of those recordings. Would be just like Trump/Fox to edit out some video and then claim the FBI planted evidence. Like the "suitcase of ballots" video.

Are you calling him out for this?
Whether the documents had or had not been declassified, he admitted he took documents that he wasn't supposed to when he returned 15 boxes earlier in the years.

When President, Trump had the authority to do what he liked with those documents. That means he was free to be reckless and stupid with them, and declassify them as he pleased. If he took them after he was President, then that's a clear violation.

I was Never Trump before there was a name for it, and stuck to that - supported both impeachments. However, any criminal charges against a former president need to be clear, and clearly not partisan.

Actually he can't. You are literally suggesting that a President can declassify in his own mind and then tell us later....even if later is after his Presidential term has ended. Sorry...won't fly.

That, in fact, is precisely what got Hillary off the hook for the vast preponderance of the classified information on her email server. It was State Department data, and she was the OCA, just as POTUS is.

They do seem to be bumping against the bottom. Shouting for civil war, "lock and load", etc....basically expressing their desire to commit violence against Democrats to further their political goals.
Where do they go from there? I mean, that's got to be close to bottom.
They even updated their GOP platform to basically remove all policy/legislative stuff, and the concluding remarks are that they think Democrats are evil and only GOP is "standing in the breach".

They can cry wolf only for so long....so we hope.

Correct, declassifying documents is a process:
- Declassified documents are marked declassified with the date of the declassification and the signature of the person that declassified the document
- Declassification is not something that just exists in the President's head. Sorry Donny...while you are claiming you declassified them, where is the paper trail?

Now I ask you, do you want Trump back in the WH again wrecking havoc and chaos? You do if you are dedicated to burning the entire Republic down and we know we have posters here and citizens dedicated to that cause.

I would also ask us to note the political state of play currently. DOJ and the administration has stuck to the beaten path, driving at or below the speed limit and within the rules of law. The GOP in the form of its Senators and Congressmen are careening their clown car to and fro, barely keeping three never mind four wheels on the ground at a time wildly and dangerously throwing accusations around and inciting violence in the process.

Now I ask you, do you want them back in positions of power again?

The President can literally declassifly on the fly. It's necessary for diplomacy and foriegn relations.

Just because you are pretending to know anything about classified material? Um.....no. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
