the breakfast thread

Today I had 2 breakfasts: First was my usual, a piece of toast or a bagel. Today it acted as an appetizer, and by 9am, I was just starving. So I had leftover taco casserole with a good ol Kraft Single melted on top, and 2 oreos. That held me 'til lunch.
 
Eggs on toast... water.

All while standing in the kitchen. Cooked, eaten and cleaned up all in about 8 minutes. LOL
 
Have you ever tried Bob's Red Mill Extra Thick Rolled Oats? They take longer to cook, but they have a lot more flavor and chew. (The microwave method was a disaster) Not boring, imo.

Do you go to a real bagel shop or buy at supermarket? I'm very limited while gluten free, but I so love a real just baked bagel with poppy seeds and lox, cream cheese and red onion. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Nice memories.

Supermarket. I'm not sure what kind I'm going to get next. Maybe plain with a lower cal cream cheese.

I have been trying to find lower fat dairy products that have a decent consistency. (Doc says she hears a heart blockage.) Chobani low fat yogurt is fine--when it's on sale! I tried nonfat Greek yogurt--it was gelatinous and awful. I tried Baby bel light and it was rubbery and had a faint taste of Swiss, which I hate. It had been a BOGO, so I took back both bags and begged for regular, and they obliged on the unopened one. I gave her the other to use or share in the lunch room, because I sure wasn't going to eat it. Makes me leery of trying other stuff, but I consume a lot of dairy, all kinds, even butter, and I either have to cut back or find less heart blocking alternatives. I use Smart Balance now maybe half the time, but i use butter when cooking. Let me know if you find a good low fat cream cheese.

Without gluten, much of the wonderful world of bread, baked goods, pasta and processed foods is out, so dairy fills that 'satisfied' niche.
 
Trying to keep it basic for the morning today. Two slices of toast; one with no sugar added PB, and the other with strawberry preserves.

If you have chocolate cake or real New York cheesecake or key lime pie for breakfast. I'm down for it. Dessert for breakfast is what I dream about when I wake up. (y)
