The Average Muslim

Are average Muslims striving for peace or not?

I'm actually going to school with a Muslim from Egypt. He's a cool kid that I've drank with and smoked weed with. That was my picture of an average Muslim
 
I think the average muslim in America wants peace. I am aware that they need to go American schools, and get exposed to american culture. public schools are being taken over by christians who want to see everyone inthe schools made into christians. Some Christians seem to oppose freedom of religion.

We Americans need to make sure that our constitutional rights are not lost to a christian right wing dictatorship.

Can you imagine a self righteous government that justifies it decisions on their private interpretations of what being a christian is?

The schools are less influenced by the Christian Right now than they were in any other time in US History. I am also not sure how your comments about the Christian Agenda relate to the Average Muslim.

*sigh* Because they can't help it. I knew this was coming, see my poll "Double-Standards on Message Boards". It's impossible to discuss anything Muslim without someone bringing up Christianity.

And, dragon, when I was growing up, we had morning and lunchtime prayer with the class. Now they aren't allowed to so you're a bit mixed up...

As for the thread, I don't know any Muslims but the average muslims are probably nice and normal, at least I hope so. ^^

It seems hate is very easy to install in the general public... look at the Nazi as an example. The difference is they've been at this for generations in the middle east.

Even in today's America hate is easier to teach than tolerance. Take the majority view on homosexuals as an example.

All you need do is find something the average people find wrong with society and say "look!!!!! the (insert group of choice here) are responsible for this." Unfortunately, the average man will believe anything if you say it enough times. (ex: God exists!!! He is making WMD!!!! Jews are pigs!!! The republican party has the best interest of the average American in mind!!!!.... etc) For some people, if you say it enough times, no proof to the contrary can ever change their mind.

Then there is the religious factor, yes christians are bad... muslims are worse by many factors and they are more primitive. Their leaders are promoting an "us or them." mindset with a reproduce like crazy philosophy. There seems to be the notion among them that they are free to attack whomever they please and it is fundamentally wrong when others retaliate. They literary hide behind the humanity of those they hate. Pity they've seem to have forgotten something that's gonna get them killed.

Survival trumps humanity any day of the week.

They don't necessarily. Not the ones who are liberals because they understand libereral principles, anyway.

There is no shortage of reactionary leftists, however, and so I agree with you that this is all too common a practice here. I don't know you well enough to know why you paint with such a broad brush, though, as you do not distinguish between the liberals here and those who are merely reactionary. I could just as soon say "why are conservatives racists?" after various comments by certain posters here who are members of stormfront and claim to be conservative.

Some people think. Others merely react. Some people form opinions based upon values and some based upon what others say. Nobody speaks for anybody else here, though,and this despite whatever claims they might make as to representing a political philosophy. Sure, this knee-jerk mention of Christianity every time the discussion involves Islam is annoying as all get up, but these people only speak for themselves.

I don't think most people hate homosexuals.........I think most religions teach the sex that they engage is in a sin like any other sin and to love the sinner and hate the sin...........

This shitty little cliche gets repeated so much, one might think Jesus actually said it. He never did, and his philosophy was much closer to "Love the sinner, forgive the sin."

the reason for whining is that the real question for most Americans is not what muslims are gonna, for in america, they are not much of a problem. the real problem for America is what right wing christians are doing to harm our constitution?

Its not my cliche its the cliche of the Catholic Church and most religions and we are not Jesus nor are you................I don't judge....I just tell you the facts.......All sinners will be jusdged by their maker on judgment day......
