The Atlantic's editor-in-chief says his story about Trump calling vets 'losers' is just the beginnin

I believe the guy.

I'm sure he and the rest of the Trump hating media have entire notebooks full of made up nonsense and they'll be continuously releasing the stuff up until election day. (All of it attributed to unnamed sources, of course.)

Can’t be any worse than 6 years straight hearing about Obama’s secret Kenyan birth certificate.

Spazzing out at him won't make him wrong. But I can understand why you're upset that yet again you are forced to insist that existence is conspiring to victimize the most victimized victim ever, Trump.

they're freakin. they know this is the point where Trump lost the next election.

no tears from me.

Translation: Expect more possibly politically motivated hackery bull**** from "anonymous sources"

don't worry. all the releases of info about Trump/his words is mapped out. that's how they do it.

and the closer we get to the election, the more damaging the info. culminating with, of course, people coming forward on camera.

be prepared. this won't be for the faint of heart.

I think we need to know if any of those sources are foreign nationals. If foreign nationals or agents of a foreign government have dumped this information in an effort to assist Biden then CNN is committing campaign finance fraud.

If Trump didn't have the protection of free speech in 2016 then CNN and Biden don't get it now. See how that works?

I think we need to see Trump's tax returns. He could be committing tax and bank fraud and money laundering or worse...money laundering his campaign funds to pay off personal lawyers and hookers like he did in 2016.

This is 2020 and Trump is the government now...and the first amendment protects the public's free speech and the free press from the government...that's how it works....not the other way around.

what really sucks is Donald Trump doesn't even happen without decades of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. and they don't get fired/voted out. so the next Donald Trump could be even MORE crazy.

the only saving grace is the most gullible Americans (aged 50-95) won't be around forever.

Trump lies to cover his lies to cover his lies to cover his lies.

What is very telling is how the devoted Trump supporter ignore or just dismiss that article. I have tried in more than one thread to get them to engage in a meaningful way. No real takers.

they know the article/what he said is a killer. it loses the election for him.

Not sure if its a killer. All depends how many of the Trump supporters will see it as a bad things. For some of the Trump supporters on DP, the article has no effect. Trump walks on water for them.

this absolutely has no effect on 40% of the country, the cultists.

nothing does, literally nothing.

This is 2020 and Trump is the government now...and the first amendment protects the public's free speech and the free press from the government...that's how it works....not the other way around.

The first Amendment DOES NOT grant anonymity. It protects political speech from prosecution but in no way, shape or form does it protect the identity of the person that speaks. As far as the press goes, there is a recognized protection for certain sources when there may be a substantial danger to the source. Being Tweeted at is not a substantial danger.

I'm not taking about Trump's rabid supporters.

He took credit for the Choice program.

AP FACT CHECK: Trump takes credit for Obama'''s gains for vets

Trump said he passed a private-sector health care program, Veterans Choice, after failed attempts by past presidents for the last “45 years.” That’s not true. The Choice program, which allows veterans to see doctors outside the government-run VA system at taxpayer expense, was first passed in 2014 under President Barack Obama.

Trump’s VA secretary, Robert Wilkie, also is distorting the facts. Faulting previous “bad leadership” at VA, Wilkie suggested it was his own efforts that improved waiting times at VA medical centers and brought new offerings of same-day mental health service. The problem: The study cited by Wilkie on wait times covers the period from 2014 to 2017, before Wilkie took the helm as VA secretary. Same-day mental health services at VA were started during the Obama administration.

There is also no requirement for the press to reveal their sources unless ordered by a court.

Whine, cry, stomp your feet all you want.. anonymous sources aren’t going away

my guess is that the release of really bad stuff about Trump will be steady and get worse.

i think it ends with a bunch of people coming forward.

I DID NOT SAY IT DID.

The first amendment doesn't grant anyone anything...it simply protects political speech and the free press FROM THE GOVERNMENT. And as president, TRUMP IS THE GOVERNMENT.

The first amendment protects the freedom of the press to use anonymous sources just as it protected Jefferson and Madison anonymous identities when they wrote and published the Kentucky and Virginia resolutions in defiance of Adam's Alien and Sedition Act of 1798.

Anonymity in the press is as America as apple pie.

Buckle up Trump supporters...

Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, said his magazine's story about Trump calling Americans who died in battle "losers" and "suckers," was just the tip of the iceberg.

"I would fully expect more reporting to come out about this and more confirmation and new pieces of information in the coming days and weeks," Goldberg told CNN's Chief Media Correspondent Brian Stelter on "Reliable Sources" Sunday. "We have a responsibility and we're going to do it regardless of what he says."
The magazine received backlash -- from Trump and many others -- for attributing the information to four anonymous sources. CNN has confirmed several aspects of The Atlantic's reporting, also with sources who chose to remain anonymous.
But Goldberg said that's how the media is able to do its job of uncovering stories that take place behind closed doors.

I fully expect many many more of these fake stories to be highlighted in the sycophant media. They are sacred to death Trump is going to win and are pulling out all the stops on the sleaze machine.

It really is a bizarre dynamic. Even Joe's ad blaming the violence at the riots on militia people doesn't pass the smell test. This really is an Orwellian election.
