Britain would not have been a multicultural island if it wasn't for the invasions of the Celts, the Romans, Vikings, Normans, and, of course, American tourists who love your fish and chips. The residents of now Britain didn't need to be invaded. It is an extraordinary claim that that invasion benefited them.
I am simply defending the actions of Gov Abbott whom some posters love to denigrate. While incredibly debatable, what does this have to do with the topic?
Don't forget the Angles and Saxons. Also the Spanish (survivors), and I think the French (nonNormans) landed a few times.Britain would not have been a multicultural island if it wasn't for the invasions of the Celts, the Romans, Vikings, Normans, and, of course, American tourists who love your fish and chips.
And best part of American tourists in Britain is that the British speak our language making it easier to find directions and haggle over exchanging dollars for confusing British currency.
Yes, the Romans enjoyed England as a destination resort in Londinium and Bath.I am greatfull as the Romans were pretty great as far as invaders go.
British people under Roman rule were Romans so had rights and could travel anywhere in the empire.
It was an amazing empire that did many things right and improved the UK.
The Roman idea was that if a conquered region settled they would be treated well and they stuck to that principle.
The dark ages were shit as the land descended into a leaderless mess.
Yes that is what I want for America plus I love the "Lights Out At Night" policy. It would save billions in electricity costs. North Korea dictates only a few styles of haircuts for men are allowed. I would promote that as well. Any more questions?Even prisoners have rights. Otherwise we are no better than North Korea. Is that what you are advocating for?

Governor Abbott is protecting the integrity and boundaries of his state of TX by discouraging the influx of illegal migrants. The Biden Administration did not do its job of preventing millions of illegals from entering this country.
As a bleeding-heart Liberal, I doubt you even care about the millions of illegals now in this country along with drug-dealers, illegals on terrorist watch lists, child traffickers, and drug mules.
wow
even the newspaper basically said it was a maybe, a possibly ....... and you will continue to believe what you want
heck, believe they roasted alive an served for dinner 5,000 in Texas ..... just go crazy with your fantasies !!!
Forgive me, but I do not know who that is.Memory flash -

You're not saying they don't have access to drinking water??!!When it's 100+ degrees inside a prison, should prisoners have access to drinking water?

Wallace turned himself around on race issues. He stated and rightfully, so that he was the voice of the people of Alabama and to me that is what leaders are supposed to do. I was in the south during the 60s and racism was everyday life. "FOR WHITES ONLY' signs were everywhere. I'm sure his assassination attempt had something to do with his change. I worked in Pascagoula, Mississippi in the late 70s and while the signs were down racism was alive and well.Memory flash -

Sorry, former governor George Wallace of Alabama.Forgive me, but I do not know who that is.
Oh, yeah.Sorry, former governor George Wallace of Alabama.
Wallace, George Corley, Jr.
After pledging “Segregation now! Segregation tomorrow! Segregation forever!” in his 1963 inaugural address, Alabama Governor George Wallace gained national notoriety by standing at the entrance to the University of Alabama to denounce the enrollment of two African American students. Martin Luther King described Wallace as “perhaps the most dangerous racist in America today” (King, “Interview”).
No he was not. google the governor of Georgia back then for a real genuine Klansman.Oh, yeah.
That guy was a bigot of the worst kind.
The deaths of a few prisoners because of heat is almost insignificant when you compare them to the deaths and destruction brought down on cities by the BLM-led riots in 2020. Where was the outcry from the public during those terrible days when feckless governors (like Tim Walz) were afraid to call out the National Guard for fear of making the riots worse?
At least those prisoners suffering from the heat in TX aren't facing the risk of going to jail because they were upset over a drug-addled thug like George Floyd being murdered by an idiot rogue cop.
His behaviors speak for themselves. No he was not. google the governor of Georgia back then for a real genuine Klansman.
Big deal concentrate on the racist trying to get back in the White House instead of a guy 60+ years ago. By the way there are still millions of racists alive and well today. His behaviors speak for themselves.
He was a racist. He may not have been Bull Conner, but he was still a racist.
It's incoherent to you because you can't interrelate recent political events with Gov Abbott's refusal to coddle convicted criminals suffering for their crimes. Is this supposed to be a rebuttal? It's incoherent.
States are legally allowed to protect their borders.Nobody is talking about Abbott's stance on immigration, which under the law, is not within his purview. The states are not legally allowed to enforce immigration law.
In any event, Abbott is a well-known racist, and far right-wing lunatic who has long needed to be removed from office.
Yes. What a silly question. Do you think TX is like a Russian gulag in Siberia? When it's 100+ degrees inside a prison, should prisoners have access to drinking water?
No, they are not. You are WRONG.States are legally allowed to protect their borders.
And if the Feds won't do it, even with Kamala the Biden border czar, then Abbott has to protect the border of his state.
And the people of TX have an opportunity to remove a governor every four years.
The Federalist Society is not a valid source. They are a bunch on tinfoil hate conspiracy theory-spreading asshats. Nothing more.Texas defends its recent actions by pointing to provisions in the Constitution that obligate the federal government to protect the states from invasion, and that reserve to the states the right to defend themselves from invasion if the federal government fails to do so.Mar 8, 2024
Does Texas Have The Right to Defend Its Border?
Forgive me, but I do not know who that is.
I wasn't either.I wanna say it looks like Gov Wallace, but I was not aware of him having been in a wheelchair.
