Teachers outline for parents their respond to the Dont Say Gay bill.

You understand there is a difference between books in a library and blocks of instruction correct. Or does you bias not allow you to comprehend such things.

My bias caused me to actually read the law and understand it applies to discussion as well as instruction...

Don't do that; your face might stay that way.

Yes, present the facts; if the child asks, they are old enough for the correct answer. What else could you say? Just walk away and ignore the question like most parents? Unlike Santa, lesbians will exist until the child dies of old age.

Really? How far should this explanation go? Should explain to my class that lesbians get naked, stick their fingers in each other, put their mouths on each other....?

Well, yes. Romantic and sexual discussions shouldn’t be part of the classroom of very young children. Do you think I should honestly explain to my first graders that Susie’s 2 moms kiss, get naked together, have sex? What is going too far?

@BlueTex ?

Only if you, as a parent, deem that acceptable; I suspect your hyperbolic response is not one even the most horrendous of schools would offer.

Try the Love approach - they love each other. Kids will fill in the blanks behind the garage when they get together with their buddies and Google 'lesbian' on their parent's laptop.

Please keep up this lunacy progressives... Keep acting like the children you teach and it's not going to end well for you.

People, regular ordinary people from both sides of the political fence and all across the country are becoming fed up with all this far left progressive bullshit. You all have taken this identity politics, cancel culture, race-card crap too far and come November you all are going to suffer the consequences.

Your choice to shit on women by supporting biological men competing in women's sports just wasn't enough for you all was it? You had to make sure as many people as possible walked away from progressivism and the democratic party, so for the second time in less than a year, when you all had a chance to side with parents and their children, you chose once again to side with those trying to indoctrinate our children. The first time cost you the state of Virginia and damaged you heavily in New Jersey, but that's nothing compared to what's coming in the 2022 mid-terms.

So like I said, keep it up and we'll see you in November.

.
LMAO at your stupid threats. Also LOL @ you pretending to care about women's rights.
You sound really angry dude.

Parent? We're talking about a public school teacher's response to the question.

I don't think the discussion needs to happen at all about hetero or homosexual couples. "Yes, Susie has two mommies" is as far as it needs to go in terms of discussion in the classroom.

How about when kids ask about church or God? How far should that discussion go?

"Yes, Susie has two mommies" - don't say that in a Florida school!
You did answer your own question though. I suspect one of two situations apply:

a) you have no children, and are not a 1st grade teacher.
b) if you do, prepare to get walked all over by them for their entire childhood - kids are vastly smarter than you give them credit for, and they know it when they are.

There's no instruction or discussion about her two mommies, why she has two mommies, what makes them both her mommy, what those two women do together, etc. happening there, so ..... not against the Florida law.

I have no idea what you're saying here.

What should a public school first grade teacher's response be when a kid asks her what a lesbian is? How far should the discussion go?

How should a public school first grade teacher respond when a kids asks about God? How far should that discussion go?

Deflecting to religion is an indicator where this type of legislation is headed - they may come after you next...

I remember when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade, long before my sexual awakening; I traded a really nifty knife I had to another kid for a Playboy. All I wanted to know, is if girls had penises like mine; parents wouldn't tell me, and I didn't dare ask a teacher because I already knew the entire subject was taboo, but I didn't know why. I was crushed on thumbing through the pictures - that area was not allowed to be shown in magazines - I was terribly disappointed, but deduced there was something up reading the text.

I finally talked the neighbor girl into showing me hers; I showed her mine! No, we didn't touch - we were both too shocked, and oddly embarrassed. Bummed me out I traded my knife off though, when I got my answer for free.

What legislation about religion will be written do you think? What would they come after me for?

Okay. That's how it usually goes. I found out by having siblings of a different gender. A public school teacher shouldn't be talking about ******s and penises with her students, should they?

And you've never answered my questions:

What should a public school first grade teacher's response be when a kid asks her what a lesbian is? How far should the discussion go?

How should a public school first grade teacher respond when a kids asks about God? How far should that discussion go?

Wow. That's very insulting to teachers.
Only to the ones that have a social agenda and pretend to be illiterate.

My bias caused me to actually read the law and understand it applies to discussion as well as instruction...
What language in the law leads you to this interpretation?

Anatomy - yes, a penis or vagina is basic anatomy, just like a mouth or kidney, and if presented as anatomy and nothing more, the child won't come away ill-informed and confused.

Sorry I didn't answer your question correctly - please see the sentence above.

And that language is only in the bill, and is literally not part of the statute, the law. But you knew that.

LMAO... What the hell do you think it means when it says, "An act relating to parental rights in education; amending s. 1001.42, F.S.;"?

It means the language you quote is not in the statute, the law. Please tell me you knew that and that you are being obtuse for some weird ass reason.

Proof that many teachers need to be fired or run out of town on a rail. Crazy, entitled, and with diseased minds.

Any teacher who would refuse to call my male child him/he, or my female child her/she, and I would be coming to that classroom and "dealing with" that asshole teacher personally. Something they would NOT want to happen. Some of these asshole teachers have for too long not been dealt with. Time to start wishing some of them into the cornfield.

Interesting. You believe the correct response to someone not using preferred pronouns is violence?

That is what the law requires.

Apparently you do not under the danger of too much teachers union power over politics. The more concerned parents succeed in removing their children from public schools (using free choice money from the state) the better off children will and the weaker teachers unions will become.
That is my fond hope. For years we have been paying taxes to support public schools locally and for years I have seen to product of shoddy public school education.
Leaves very bad taste in my mouth.
Also, for years I have contributed to my granddaughter's private school education and now she is in college because she received a good education in K-12 Catholic schools. Now that's a good feeling.

It's political. Nothing to do with what's best for the kids or the education system..

Thank you.

This is just insane. There is no evidence that the left us doing anything if the kind. Teachers are just working to make all kids feel safe and included as they struggle to find themselves and their place in this world.

School boards and school systems should be determining what's taught, not polticians. Nazis and communists pass laws about teaching, not liberal democracies.
Sticking your head in the sand is not an effective debate tactic.

I can only imagine your outrage if a local school board pushed some religious or conservative ideals.

If you don’t think there are not lots and lots of laws about teaching them I don’t know what to tell someone who has decided reality doesn’t exist.
