Tea Party nutjobs only control 18% of the population.

Fight fire with fire is what I have to say about it. Some times you have to hit the bully in the nose! Especcially these loud talking crybabies

OK, if you think snarky insults give greater credibility to your pontifications, then go right ahead.

When I see people using slander in lieu of thoughtful expression, I tend to disregard what they say. When I see an intelligent, respectful, rational post, I tend to pay more attention to the content.
Of course, I'm a true independent and don't have the obligation to follow a party line.

How can Tea party rednecks have more power than mainstream republicians? It is beyond me.

The power of "mainstream Republicans" was supported by a system that had been deeply destabilized, if not destroyed, by the events of the last decade. The same goes for the moderate Democrats (if any are still left around).

The tea party movement may be not representative of the majority's views, but that is in part because the majority lacks any cohesive "views".

Two groups responded to the Crisis in a way that contrasted with the failed paradigm of Republicrats: the hard Left and the tea party movement. The tea party movement declared that it is both necessary and possible to try and elect representatives who would stick to fiscal responsibility and market liberalism beyond campaign slogans. Much to my amazement, it had succeeded to a great degree.

"Mainstream Republicans" are stepping aside for the same reason residents of a burning building who neglected safety rules get out of the firemen's way. Their irresponsible behavior, unchecked for decades, led to most serious problems. Now, it is time to stand at a safe distance and watch how these rough-looking guys and gals break walls with axes and ruin soft furniture by hosing it with water. Not a pretty sight. But they had all time in the world to practice fiscal restraint and limited government, and prevent any of it from happening. They blew it.

Aren't you capable of writing anything without insults? Do you not realize how foolish your posts sound because of your endless derogatory comments?

Here's what you could have said:
Why are we letting Tea Party hold the whole country hostage? They only represent 18% of the population so why does the GOP leadership allow themselves get pushed around by a minority faction? I don't understand what is going on. How can the Tea party have more power than mainstream republicans?

Really, you're the one who sounds like a wing-nut. Didn't anyone ever teach you manners? You do your party more harm than good by being so infantile in your posts. Your spelling needs work as well.

The right wing has no manners my friend. They call victoms of this bad economy lazy. They call illegal's drug dealers. They say gay's are evil. They think it is OK to sell a wack job a gun. They think they know better than a doctor when it comes to reproductive health. They have shut down the government like a bunch of cry babies over a law they have lost three times fighting. Now you tell me do they deserve to be shown manners? I say hell no.

I feel these people where elected to do a job and that job is to work with the other party not gridlock. Every since the GOP failed to impeach Clinton this nation has been divided. It is almot like we have become a nation of rednecks or hippies with no middle ground. Yes I am far left but I have worked with some of the biggest rednecks you have ever seen and in some cases they where my boss and I worked with them to keep my job. The problem is many of these far right districts would never vote for a dem so these tea party wackjob's will not be helt accountable for holding the country hostage. It is going to be the ruin of us all never mind the fact tea party conservatives control a minority of Americans.

Because they represent the "Real Americans". I thought everyone knew that. The other 80%--you know, the rest of us--are mongrel hordes, chock full of queers, niggers, furrinoars, snot-nosed kids, and various other dregs of society that they'd prefer didn't vote---last I looked, we were all labeled "takers" and "low-information voters".

You forgot porn watching and drug doing takers. They have basically declaired war on the majority of Americans who do not support them and with the Gerrymandered districts they are not helt accountable.

Stop complaining. Newt and Rush have no manners so why should we? We are in the middle of a right wing kidnapping and you want me to be nice. Dream on.

another thread, to complain, to make one's self feel better.

Dude the goverment is shut down. Our troops are not getting paid. Our vet's are not getting VA benifits. 800,000 fedral workers are getting furlowed. It is all over a fight the conservatives have lost three times. I think complaining is the least we should do.

Why are we letting Tea Party wing nuts from rural districts hold the whole country hostage? They only represent 18% of the population so why does the GOP let them get pushed around by these political suicice bombers? I don't understand what is going on. How can Tea party rednecks have more power than mainstream republicians? It is beyond me.

You're addressing the issue from the wrong perspective buddy.

It's not a matter that you don't understand this as if it were some sort of anomaly in your case. This, not understanding things, is your default status.

Rednecks are holding the country hostage. How is that the wrong perspective? People from rural areas with small populations are holding us hostage and while the moderates in the party say it is a crazy thing to do the nutjobs do it anyway. Where am I wrong?

Do you support not paying our troops who are putting their life on the line? Do you support not paying VA benifits to those who need them? The fight is lost and the right neds to move on.

The ones holding the country "hostage" are in both parties, especially in the leadership of the Senate and the Executive branch...

BTW all House districts are made up of roughly 700,000 of your fellow citizens...

A bill for active duty military has already been passed and signed by the President, and the House is sending a bill to the Senate tonight for the VA...

Here is where you are wrong:

After two years of the shocking weirdness of Obama, the American people spoke through the Tea Party in 2010 and kicked over 650 Democrats out of State and National office, nationwide, and further, took the absolute control of Congress away from the Obama loons by giving the House to the Republicans.

What then happened after this nationwide, sweeping Conservative American victory? The IRS went into action to suppress the Tea Party and falsify the American vote by refusing to provide tax exempt status to nearly 500 Tea Party organizations, thereby effectively suppressing and distorting the vote for Obama's re-election in 2012. That is the only way that Democrats can win elections.

To think the Liberals with their insane ideas are a majority in the United States is the exact opposite of the truth. YOU are the minority.

ALL districts are Gerrymandered. It would be helpful if you learned a little about how our government was formed before you throw around terms you obviously don't understand. In fact, Elbridge Gerry was one of the founders.

I support the paying of things which are constitutional, as in our military..i don't support social programs which are not constitutional.

Well, I understand your worries, but I disagree. The impeachment of Clinton - or relentless attacks on Bush Jr, for that matter- all that was 85% my-team-against-your-team partisanship on display. Red Rox vs Yankees.

The tea party movement (outside of the caricature perpetrated by the mass media) has actual, well defined, and, from my point of view, progressive (the left doesn't own the word, agreed?) content. The fiscal discipline and limited government may have been much-abused slogans before, but now they have a chance in real politics. I suspect this is a post-Crisis phenomenon, and the window of opportunity may be very narrow, and I am willing to overlook (to a point) the "redneck" qualities of some proponents.

And I am really surprised that so few "hippies" are able to see beyond the stereotypes generated by the likes of MSNBC and FOX...

Every single one of them?

It would seem fairly obvious to the casual observer, that the 18% figure must be bogus. I'd check you sources. Someone is probably assuming that you'll take their word at face value.

According to Gallup's latest Party Affiliation/identification the Republican Party has only 22% of the American Public willing to ID with them. On the other hand, 31% identify with the Democrats, so both are in the minority here. I really doubt 18% of Americans identify themselves with the tea party, that would at the moment leave only 4% identifying themselves as mainstream or establishment Republicans.

when i checked it was about 22% of the population, while liberalas in general only commanded 21% of the population,so what makes liberals think they have the right to demand anthing when they are minority to both moderates and conservatives??????
