Do we really need a swear filter? I understand that people under 18 may come here, but really, it's nothing they don't hear in school and in movies every day.

It's not even just the f-word and racial slurs either...do we really need to bleep out words like "a-hole" and "pssed off"?

If so, is there any way that the swear filter could be optional?

Just my two cents. ;)

Good idea about the switch, let me see what I can come up with. :)

If you do, will you subtract my warning points as well?

How can we have a non-baised forum if Billo doesn't have a few warning points?

j/k

I am still looking to see if it is even possible.

Well, they do keep me company late at night, alone in the dark, logging in...

...their also very gentle...

...maybe I said too much!

Considering that all it takes to avoid the filter is to use a 1 for an l, a @ for an A, a ph for an f, or any of a number of other substitutions, the real question isn't whether or not to employ a filter, but where to draw the line as far as language is noncerned.

With a site that says "civility a must", I imagine such subjective calls as to what constitutes civility are ultimately up to the administration. What, with the number of hateful racists infesting this board, I would think a few f words would be the least of it's problems when it comes to civility.
