Strong early-vote turnout gives Dems hope in Georgia runoffs

Actually, the lint parallels the line from the general election after the Christmas plateau. You're right that there isn't evidence of a "pent up demand" that would have made for a sharper angle of assent in the following days. There is nothing in the article about how the votes are distributed. If Chomsky's article is accurate, then this might reflect a reduced Republican turn out.
You’re right (highlighted portion of response). As I understand it this is being hailed as a good sign for Democrats. Implying that mostly Democrats vote early. If I accept that premise I’m left wondering why they aren’t turning out as much as in the general election. We can perhaps say 30% of the 625,000 are Republicans. I think that might be overly generous though.

Hah! Even when you take what should be my side, we still disagree! 😝

My gut says the Dems will fall short, because . . . Georgia. I find it hard to believe the Old South will relinquish so easily. But I must admit the numbers as reported in the article are reasonably positive.

I do swear, that if GA turns Blue, I'm going to visit when it's Covid safe! I want to get a feel for what Southern Liberalism is like, and how it sits alongside the remnants of the Old South. Hopefully, it's moderate & sensible and can still reference its conservative roots. If Georgia goes San Francisco, I think I'll cry.
I used to work in GA. Buckhead is a great party town. The whole area is much more liberal than people think. Theres a gay section in atlanta where all the crosswalks are rainbows and stuff.

I finally broke down and read Chomsky's article. It says that the Democrats numbers are 80% of what they were in the last election and the Republicans are at two thirds. So both are down at this point compared to the last election. Republicans just more so. Republicans have a good ground game prepared for election day and both parties have events planned to get out the vote. It could go either way. Another nail biter coming up. Let's hope it doesn't take long to resolve this time.

Thanks for the 411.

I think that's an urban phenomena, in part. It seems many conservative states have some liberal cities. CF Austin, Ashville, etc.

Thing is, I don't like hard-core liberal areas. At least, not to live in. I actually prefer to live in moderate Republican suburbs of very large cities. I like old-school Rockefeller Republican type places, but there aren't that many left.

I recommend you sit home and never vote again against the all powerful Democrats who are taking over the world. At least you won't get COVID.
I'm thinking Bearpoker and her ilk believe they can get a high-level job in the new Communist government. Maybe as an SS officer
Why are you supporting a socialist give away?
I don't. I was responding to a leftwing gripe.

Yea, but leave the bigger cities and it turns into hickville pretty quick.

Suburbs will be key. Do they go enough blue to hold off the toothless wave.

In the general the burbs split their tickets. Question is: Will they now take out their disgust with Trumps shenanigans out on the Republican candidates?

Counting chickens again?

That is what I see in these Democratic optimism stories about early voting and think they do more damage by ginning up the Republican response to come out on election day.

It appears there's some positive signs for Dems in the GA early-voting stats. The article is chock-full of details, and I've included some excerpts above. But, I do suggest reading the article - if you're so inclined.
Can democrats steal another election? Advocating for people to move into GA to cast votes, more mystery mail in ballots, failure to verify signatures or no signatures at all? Hopefully there will be much better over-site for this election than the previous one.

Most Republicans are Christians who play fair and expect others to do the same.

Is that why Trump wants all of Biden’s votes thrown out but all of his own kept?

The democrats and the media have to sell the idea that the democrats can and will win so they can manipulate the vote more easily. This is what they did in the presidential election with claims of Biden's huge lead in the polls. Sell the illusion of winning before they steal it.

If anyone moved to Georgia in time to establish residency and legally register to vote, more power to them.

What "mystery mail in ballots"?

What "failure to verify signatures" or "no signatures at all"?

The oversight of the November 3rd Election was totally adequate and professional, that is why three votes counts confirmed the same decision three times, with State auditing and investigation of reported alleged voting irregularities.

Yes. Democrats are all geared up. They promise to remember to steal both elections this time. Kamala threatened to bring out her whip if they forget again. 😁

:ROFLMAO:

That is funny. Not at all true. But funny.

:ROFLMAO:

To paraphrase that icon of Republican polity, Sarah "Mama Grizzly" Palin, "All of them!"

:ROFLMAO:

Like...they keep referring to Trump’s “74m voters.” How come Trump gets to keep all of his in their fantasy scenarios?

Like Trump really won Florida.

In 21 more days will any of these folks give it a rest and admit Joe Biden won?

I agree. It's still GA, after all.

But, GA did flip against Trump. And, it's a unique election. These two factors give me some hope, along with the fired-up Abrams' African-American voting bloc.

I just don't put much stock in polls after the last two Presidential cycles. However, i do hope the polls are correct. The GOP reallly needs taking to the wood shed, and punished.

Remember, folks: if the vote totals change and the GOP wins, it was rigged. Massive voter fraud like you've never seen before! SAD!

Once the Dem canidate has pulled ahead in the vote,i shall insist the State of Georgia stop the count!! This is how we do these type of things in an election!!

Many of whom have voted absentee. Imagine that, Democrats continue to actually take a pandemic seriously while Republicans blow it off.

Did the South Koreans stop taking the "pandemic seriously" because it's on the rise there again?(wink)
