State university faculty, students to be surveyed on beliefs - DeSantis going all in...

DeSantis is laying the bricks for his run for the Presidency. This has little to do with Florida Universities and more to do with increasing his national popularity amongst conservatives particularly Trumpers.
sounds more like he pursuing an attempt to promote his brand of "dictatorship". It's another act of White Nationalism struggling to stay alive!!!!

Generally, I think voters take a dim view of politicians dictating what can and cannot be taught in schools.

Why would they?

You don't even see the irony do you?
Do you know what free speech violations are? Being criticized, not being invited to speak or getting a failing grade are not violations of your free speech.

Teaching objective facts and logic are not partisan ideas or furthering democratic party goals.

Certainly could be.

No argument.

I know...

What is the irony?
Decrying suppression of free speech on campus while claiming schools should not further conservative beliefs

Certainly could be.

No argument.
The limits of free speech are being jailed or fined by the government for your speech and or actions.

THe extremes of the First Amendment violations. There is a concept of free speech outside the First Amendment.

College campuses are ideally bastions of free speech and free exchange of ideas. Unfortunately, they are virtually the opposite these days.

You don't have the right not to be criticized or protested by others because that would be an infringement of their equal free speech rights.

VEry true. The foundation on which the left's cancel culture has flourished.

Yes. Why?

I don't know. Why?

It would be unconstitutional to fire a person for not taking a survey.

You were forced to take a survey or face discipline? Did you show your employer the Constitution?
Some people, especially conservatives have been attempting to make pretty much all schools private for quite some time, so there is no reason to believe that they wouldn't relish the idea of getting rid of state universities altogether. Unless you want to claim that someone who supports a public school voucher program wouldn't feel the same about public vs private colleges.

It would only matter if it is unconstitutional though if they fought the firing, if they had a some sort of recourse, if it was challenged. In the mean time, they would still be fired if that is a route taken. Some people want to act as if the Constitution is a magic shield against things happening, but in reality it is just a powerful document to use when laws are implemented or actions taken against others that violate the principles of the Constitution. It still takes time to fight such things when it would be better to fight the law prior to any such usage of it happening.

Desantis is going all in for 2024. Mark Meadows will not be pleased.

I hear this comment often from conservatives but they never seem to provide a specific example. Do you have specific examples of where and how this is occuring?

Knock yourself out. THis is a fine organization dedicated to preserving free speech and other rights on campuses.

This begs the question, rather than pass a bill allowing the government to identify what everyone is thinking, which sounds like something straight out of 1984, why not pass a bill that protects free speech at state colleges?

They provide zero examples to support their position. They simply say it is so based on some arbitrary standard set by them. Still waiting for concrete examples....got any?

Students shutting down Conservatives who come for speeches... demanding that people be fired... demanding this, demanding that.

When was the last time you went to college?

Tons of people we argue with didn't go to college or lie about it.

Hell, they fight education and science every day.
