How many songs can you think of that are about heroin addiction?

First, here's one of the easiest:

And here are a couple that I'll bet you may have never imagined. Think about the lyrics deeply — very deeply:

I kinda think one has to have seen heroin addiction in a friend or family member to appreciate those last two.

"She's into superstitions
Black cats and vodoo-dolls
I feel a premonition
That girl's gonna make me fall

She's into new sensations
New kicks in the candle light
She's got a new addiction
For every day and night

She'll make you take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain
She'll make you live a crazy life but she'll take away your pain
Like a bullet to your brain

Chorus
Upside-inside-out
She's livin' la vida loca
She'll push and pull you down
Livin' la vida loca
Her lips are devil red
And her skin's the colour of mocha
She will wear you out
Livin' la vida loca
Livin' la vida loca
Livin' la vida loca

Woke up in New York City
In a funky cheap hotel
She took my heart she took my money
She must have slipped me a sleeping-pill

She never drinks the water
Makes you order french champagne
Once you've had a taste of her
You'll never be the same
Cause she'll make you go insane

Chorus
Upside-inside-out
She's livin' la vida loca
She'll push and pull you down
Livin' la vida loca
Her lips are devil red
And her skin's the colour of mocha
She will wear you out
Livin' la vida loca
Livin' la vida loca
Livin' la vida loca

She'll make you take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain
She'll make you live a crazy life but she'll take away your pain
Like a bullet to your brain

Chorus
Upside-inside-out
She's livin' la vida loca
She'll push and pull you down
Livin' la vida loca
Her lips are devil red
And her skin's the colour of mocha
She will wear you out
Livin' la vida loca"

I can easily name about 20 more right off the top of my head, but I wanna see how many really obscure ones you know.

There She Goes - The La's.

Though the 'composer' apparently never admitted it was about heroin - many feel it really was/ is.

Beat me to it!

Yep, I hafta agree with the "many": the lyrics to that one say heroin all the way.

Here's another easy one:

and another more obscure one:

I'm pretty sure Neil Young is playing with some deep symbolism for us on this one:

and another, far easier one to spot, lyrically speaking,

Kay, since nobody else is gonna name one, here are a couple more, and then I'm outta here.

First, the easy one:

Now, another obscure one:

It is said that the drug that induces love is stronger than heroin and there are lots of songs about that.

Comfortably Numb

Sam Stone

Fire and Rain

It's pretty amazing how many songs sound as if they're about a woman or love when they are actually about drugs.

This one is not about heroin but cocaine.

Which was quite the clever trick for Neil considering you posted a song that was by America, instead. The dude who wrote it is named Dewey Bunnell.

Were you thinking of this one by any chance, though?

I was going to say that I didn't realize Neil Young ever played with America.

Bet you didn't know THIS song was about heroin.

What about this one?

Let's not forget this classic, either, when David Cassidy professes his eternal love for his drug of choice.

"Like all at once I wake up from something that keeps Knocking at my brain" he recants, before adding "I woke up with this feeling
I didn't know how to deal with and so I just decided to myself..."

After a brief period detailing his reservations where he says "I don't know what I'm up against
I don't know what it's all about
I got so much to think about, hey"

he finally confesses he's hooked "I think I love you isn't that what life is made of?"

junkies.........
