“She kept squirming and trying to keep her legs closed and saying stuff in Arabic,” said Sergeant Cortez, who was flanked by his civilian and military lawyers.

"I lifted up her skirt and took off her stockings while Barker held her hands with his knees," he said before admitting that he raped the teenager as she screamed. "After I was done, myself and Barker switched spots."

Hopefully NP will come out and defend this poor girl who will probably be scarred for the rest of whatever natural life she has left.
It's sad to see events like these happen. They tend to fuel the minds those crazy people that disrespect the troops and use any excuse to try and tarnish their image. It wont take long for that sort of people to come out and invade a thread like this one. I'm willing to bet they'll do it before post #15. Care to make that wager?
Oh, Hatuey, they killed the girl after they gang-raped her.
OH! I missed that part...I thought they only raped her and killed her family...Yeah I deff. read this article too fast. :S wow...sickening....however the only people responsible for this are these men. Nobody else.
It is good to see this soldier be tried and sentenced to the full extent of the law.......
That said I hope you liberals don't try and paint all our troops with the same brush like Kerry did in Viet Nam becasue that is simply not the case........
I'm curious why talloulou thanked Navy Pride for this post. I hope it's for the former paragraph and not the latter.
Navy Pride, I don't know why you are incapable of condemning this soldier's behavior without taking a jab at liberals and/or John Kerry. Why is that?

Aps, what part of this statement do you not understand?

All I am saying is don't blame the 150,000 other troops in Iraq for 1 bad apple like the left and Kerry did in Vietnam.......That is why the troops were treated so badly upon their return from Nam.......I don't want to see the same thin happen here......
He "weeped" because he got caught and is now going to pay for it for the rest of his life. He shed no tears for the disservice he did that family. No tears were shed for the deep smear across his military branch he caused and the embarrassment felt by all military members in uniform. And he showed no care for his duty to his mission as the ripples of his dispicable deed rippled throughout the Muslim community.
I hate this guy and he's lucky I'm not handing out the punishment.
This whole thing is just plain disgusting. Are we supposed to believe that this soldier is repentant for what he did because he's weeping on the stand over his gang raping a 14-year-old girl? The only reason he is weeping is because he got caught. His description of what happened is sickening.
I just cannot fathom what can go through their minds in holding down this young girl who did NOTHING to deserve this. They switched spots? What do they say to each other at the time? "Oh, it's my turn. Let's switch." What the hell kind of mentality is that? What I just don't understand is how this many people can have the same mindset and be this evil. I can see how one sick individual can behave in this abhorrent manner, but this many people at the same time? I hope he goes to jail for the rest of his pathetic life.
I have NO sympathy when someone expresses remorse AFTER they are caught for their crime. May this guy get his payback while in jail in a worse manner than he did to that little, innocent girl.
Meanwhile, thousands upon thousands of decent men and women serve in Iraq every day with honor and dignity. But you wouldn't be interested.
I didn't say anything about respect, aps. I'm certain you respect the good guys. So go ahead, start a thread on one of them. It would be refreshing.I'm going to pretend you didn't say that, CurrentAffairs. You're pitiful.
By the way, in case you don't know, I work for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, and I have worked here for the last 10 years. I serve veterans EVERY DAY. I do volunteer work for them. So don't for a second tell me that I don't have respect for those who serve our country. I CHOOSE to work here. I could work in the private sector for a lot more money.
Amen! I actually cried when I read the article in the Washington Post this morning because I cannot imagine what that poor girl went through.

Because rape isn't a sex act. It has nothing to do with sex. Rape is an act of violence and power.I have no understanding of it sex in general isnt enjoyable unless the other person is enjoying it.
Another one of lifes scumbags
Do you know what really bothers me about this kind of **** is that there is no excuse for rape its not stealing bread to feed their family its just ****ing sick. I have no understanding of it sex in general isnt enjoyable unless the other person is enjoying it.
**** him he can die for all i care some murderers deserve sympathy sometimes but there is no excuse for rape.

Sorry, but you're misinformed. Of course it is a sex act, but not for the perpetrator. He is not looking to get sexual satisfaction. Rape is about having power over his attacker.Considering rape is a sex crime. I think it has something to do with sex...
