So elon Twitter's Prez is saying that they are the future and are powered by Artificial Intelligence (and probably need your credit card).

Musk wants X to be the American version of WeChat.

He either doesn’t realize that such a system only works because it’s backed by the authoritarian Chinese government, or worse, he fully realizes it and wants the same system for the US.

The left has always had issues with Twitter, as it didn't do much to control the miscreants who did everything they could to make it a cesspool. Twitter got better at management over the years, but even before Elmo bought it, they weren't really doing enough.

Elmo invited a bunch of right-wing dirtbags back onto Twitter, decided that "free speech is whatever I want it to mean," axed almost all of the moderators, treated employees like shit, and basically is doing everything he can to drive it into the ground. It isn't surprising that leftists have turned on it, just in the same way it isn't surprising that the right is applauding his bullshit.

As to Tesla, around 1/3 of Tesla owners are actually Republicans:

At any rate, EVs are better for the environment than ICEs, and Tesla did get into the game early. However, it's also had lots of problems over the years, with Elmo being a key problem. E.g. he spouted all that "Hyperloop" bullshit in order to thwart high-speed rail in California (as, y'know, that would potentially affect auto sales); he's always treated his employees like crap... I.e. he wasn't exactly idolized by the left.

At any rate, the way Elmo is getting treated is no different than how the right treats any public figure who moves to the left.

We'll see what happens to Twitter/X. For me, it's just about unusable. There is one account that announces rare openings for nights in a lodge in the GSMNP (LeConte Lodge) on Twitter or I'd abandon it entirely.

As for Tesla, no, I don't want Tesla gone. My liberal gay brother in CA and his partner both own Teslas. We've been considering one for a few years now, but since our cars keep on working fine, and we don't put that many miles on them each year, we haven't needed to make a decision yet.

lol... Yes, I'm irate that a hubristic asshole, who treats his staff and customers like shit, and burned $44 billion just so he could make sure Twitter never banned him, is worshipped by a bunch of wanna-be edgelords.

But no, that isn't partisan. E.g. Jeff Bezos is a smart, hard-working man who has successfully and consistently beaten his competition for years, and is mostly center-left. He also doesn't deliberately troll millions of his own customers. It still pisses me off that he abuses his workers, is too cheap to help fix a homelessness problem that his own company exacerbated, is the poster child for tax evasion and economic inequality and undue political influence, as well as a dozen other issues.
