Should we really live in fear of a little ice storm?

I summon the good patriots of America to raise their MAGA hats high. The Democrats think they are sly but, they can’t fool MAGA into living in fear with another one of their hoaxes.

an ice storm in Texas? Nope. Just as Democrats can’t win in Georgia. Ice can’t form in Texas.

So go ahead and go full speed on untreated roads!

Protest in the streets if you are inconvenienced in getting a hamburger and fries.

Show the world what you’re made of!

See what happens when Trump isn't there to spew his hot air. Ice in Texas. Seems Cruz is not a good replacement for Trump. Not enough hot gas. :ROFLMAO:

Correct.

What's a few days of rolling blackouts because wind turbines are freezing? Hell, Californians have been dealing with rolling blackouts for years.

Wind turbines are freezing? Are you sure?

Believe it or not, it's true.

What To Know: More Texans are heating their homes than normal, causing a big strain on the power grids in Texas. In addition to the increase in demand for energy, wind turbines are freezing, making it even harder to power the state.

If this continued for a long time then yes, it'd be incumbent on us to continue going about our lives, just as people do in places where snow and ice are continuous.

This is what happens when you drive the speed limit on untreated roads. ;)
Be careful out there!

If only Trump hadn't quit the Paris Agreement, this would never have happened!

Since Biden rejoined, I predict only 6 weeks until warming again!

I currently have 6 inches of snow on my tin roof of my single wide, no one else in the trailer park has any snow left on their roofs, I realized I was the only house in the row with the heat set to 50 degrees, heck a few blankets and wearing thermal underwear it is beyond tolerable, but even then with temps reaching negatives my daily electric usage was going from 2-3 dollars a day to 10-14 dollars a day, the guys who ran heaters so much they melted all the snow off their roofs in negative temps I can only imagine are going to scream when they have to pay a 1500 dollar electric bill at the end of the month because they wanted their house to be 80 degrees while using electric heat during a sub zero cold snap.

How many will Biden let freeze to death?

Not sure what your point is but we're just coming out of a nasty storn here in the NW too.

I live rurally and have plenty of preparations for these situations which are fairly common. OTOH, with no power, even with my woodstove, I worry about temps going too low and breaking water pipes. I have a rental bungalow on the property and it only has electric baseboard heat.

I figure my place has been here thru alot since the mid-70s and it's not likely but broken water pipes can do alot of damage and cost alot to fix.

If people dont have fireplaces AND a lot of firewood on hand, then they could get very very cold...esp hard on the elderly and kids.

I drove down to the store earlier, decided screw it if I have to be stuck indoors might as well get drunk and break my sobriety streak. Well where the road was kinda was the problem the snow was so thick, I ended up following tire tracks, never spun out of control, or even skid. However I drove in first gear the whole way in my toyota, drove 10mph or less, braked very slowly long before my stop, and of course was very slow letting out the clutch pedal to prevent the tires spinning out when takeing off.

Now on the way back I saw a 2005 ish monte carlo hit his brakes after trying to do a sharp turn at 30 mph, his wheels stopped rolling but his car did not stop, almost went through a house because he did not want to slow down and wanted to treat a foot of snow on the ground like it was no different than a dry summer day.

Odds are high that not a lot of those people had winter experience. I have tons of winter experience, yet no studded tires, so even driving at 20mph today I braked ineffectually as I reached a stop sign. And you couldn't have paid me a million dollars to get on a freeway. Nuh uh, no way.
Many out of state drivers in texas can not drive in snow(it seems every states worst drivers are out of state for some reason) but the big thing is texas does not salt the roads like other states where this kind of weather is common, top that off with i-35 being a cluster to begin with it was a recipe for disaster.

If you have never driven i-35 in the dallas area then you missed out on crazy driving, there is the one offramp going multiple directions, and despite the signs ahead of time telling people which lane to be in, everyone always slams on their brakes last second and tried to cut across multiple lanes.

On the rest of i-35 slamming on your brakes at every exit is the norm as it never fails multiple people ignore signs and at the last second slam on their brakes trying to cut across 3-4 lanes to get to the exit bring traffic to a halt. I imagine during such icy weather just one person doing that would cause a multi car wreck.

Yep, just like the groundhog. ;)

though i don't live in Texas, it's snowing like crazy here, also. working from home tomorrow, because like Danny Glover, I'm too old for this shit.

We've got sub-zero wind and snow in the GTA for the next day at least. Not going to be enough to cancel school, so there'll be the daily 2km to/from for the duration. ❄️

they canceled school around here. my job even told me to work from home, though i have a tight deadline that requires me to be onsite. it's smart, though. i wouldn't have tried to commute to work tomorrow through almost a foot of snow drifting with 25 MPH winds when it's colder than a gravedigger's ass outside. that's just asking for a bad time.

We had a high of 7F today. Nice and sunny. So yeah...I went Pokemon hunting at the local park. Heck, a lot of the snow even melted off the roads by the sun. But more snow on the way for the next couple of days.

I'm glad I have a bunch of movies to watch.

Correct.

Our electric has been uninterrupted (so far), but the cable and internet have been dropping out a few times per hour all day. I would guess we have gotten about 4 inches of fine powdery snow which has drifted here and there into about 12 to 14 inch mounds.

Around here I still have power but many I know have been without power the last few days, also I got way more snow than you did, we got solid ice plus snow over the ice.

Also today my internet stayed on except a few hours this morning, a few days back internet and power here were spotty, but seem to have held out during the worst parts unlike other areas.
