A tangent off this thread, asking why they don't.

https://www.debatepolitics.com/gene...esnt-twitter-just-suspend-trumps-account.html

Twitter HAS suspended and banned accounts based on activity similar to his:

What Does It Take To Get Permanently Banned From Twitter? : All Tech Considered : NPR

https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/news/2016/11/15/twitter-suspends-alt-right-accounts/93943194/

Which, in some cases, seems to be for arguably less than what Trump has tweeted.

Some in the other thread suggested they don't for their own financial benefit. Some suggested he really hasn't done anything to warrant having his account removed.

Ultimately, the question is up to them. But I'm not asking what they think; I'm asking what people here think.

SHOULD Twitter suspend/ban Trump?

Nope.

Terrible policies are being passed that affect Americans directly. It's helpful to see the mental state of the person who's instrumental in making it all happen.

Nope.

But if they did, they would have every right to.

Anyway, I don't know Twitter's profit model but I imagine he brings in a fair amount of traffic.

No.

As stupid as most of his Tweets are, I don't think he should have his account suspended. It would also be a terrible decision for Twitter business-wise.

No. Even if Trump did something that violated their rules, which I don't think he has, shutting him down would be problematic for them. I am sure he brings Twitter lots of users who wouldn't use them if not for Trump. Shutting him down would probably be a stupid business move.

Sadly, no they shouldn't. I mean I really wish it was that simple, but all that will do is feed into the narrative the conservatives have been creating for decades now. That the media and liberal elites are trying to shut conservative voices up because they're afraid of the truth.

Suspending Trump from Twitter would result in the creation of Foxbook, and Foxxer. Social media sites mirroring Facebook and Twitter that are designed for conservatives. All the Right wingers currently on facebook and Twitter will shut down their accounts there, and move to the new site just like they flock to Fox News. Trump will likely have the websites created himself, and he'll make billions.

What people need to understand is that freedom of speech is important not only so you can get the good ideas out in the open, but also to get horribly disgusting ideas out in the open so they can be confronted. Racism, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia.... they didn't go away over the last 30 years, they just got quiet. They learned code words to use in public to help them recognize like minded people, but the blatant stuff they kept hidden in conservative strong holds letting it simmer unchecked.

Keep Trump's statements out in the open for the world to see what a disgusting piece of **** he is. Keep giving him rope, and eventually he will hang himself.

Nope.

Mental state of the "patriot" who is instrumental in making it all happen. Fixed.

Banning heads of state would be troublesome.
People would rightfully ask why the Ayatollah, ISIS and other very unsavory users aren't banned.
Some make Trump look tame.

Why should they?

No, Twitter should grow up and stop censoring people who are doing nothing wrong. That's what Twitter should do.

These look to be the applicable rules:

I don't think Trump has actually broken those rules. Certainly not to the extent it would make it worth it to Twitter to deal with the massive fallout if they did ban him.

Is this another "screw free speech" thread?

This, I think, anyone looking at it objectively could seriously disagree.

Certainly not to the extent it would make it worth it to Twitter to deal with the massive fallout if they did ban him.

Well, that's a cost-benefit analysis which is really its own separate thing.

But again, I'm not looking for what people think Twitter thinks it should do . . .

No. Trumps twitter OCD allows all Americans to witness firsthand the musings of a vulgar, disturbed, and ethically bankrupt president.

Even an Orange boil on the skin of humanity should not get his twitter account taken from them.

I voted no, why?

The more Trump uses Twitter the more THE WORLD realizes that the current POTUS is an abomination of humanity

No...but Trump should grow up, stop acting like an immature child and get to the business of actually working as a President.

Well, love his twittering or hate it, he's gonna keep doing it:

"The FAKE & FRAUDULENT NEWS MEDIA is working hard to convince Republicans and others I should not use social media - but remember, I won the 2016 election with interviews, speeches and social media. I had to beat #FakeNews, and did. We will continue to WIN! My use of social media is not Presidential - it’s MODERN DAY PRESIDENTIAL. Make America Great Again! I am thinking about changing the name #FakeNews CNN to #FraudNewsCNN!"

So I guess that's that.

Oh, and he has sole authority to launch all our ICBMS.

I'm personally grateful that Trump continues to Tweet. His Tweets are really gold if you think about it. His tweets are documented evidence, by his own hand, just how unstable and incompetent Trump is.

no. he should filter himself like every other president has done.

Trump has become the proverbial politician unaware his microphone is on 24/7. He lives his life watching daytime tv as his access to the outside world.

I just picture in his living room a coffee table with a People's magazine with a book marker in it.

no. he should filter himself like every other president has done.

But then he wouldn't be Trump. We'd have to arrest the body snatcher and find out what they'd done with Trump. It would end up costing millions!

L
Good point. Trump's entire life has been like the Truman Show. His life is chronicled in every way possible that a person could be. And for decades. His notoriety parallels that of Elvis and Jesus, but sadly he's shown to have no redeeming value other than him being an example of being what we want to teach our children not to ever aspire to be a person like Trump.

And it would be so easy to construct a Trump Thread devoted to posting untold numbers of articles, videos, Audio's, Tweets, etc, etc., of his repugnant, abusive, disgusting, and dishonest life that could fill a 1000 thread pages and not scratch the surface. Trump's not America's savior. He's America's embarrassment and global joke.
