Trump explicitly accused Obama of directly ordering illegal surveillance on the Trump campaign shortly before the election. None of that happened.

What's happening is that his transition staffers were contacting foreigners, and got caught by incidental surveillance. Obama didn't order it. It's all legal. The transition staffers were not the target. No surveillance was run on the Trump organization. It happened after the election.

It had nothing to do with the conspiracy theories promulgated via Breitbart or Fox News. It wasn't run by GCHQ.

And of course, CNN is now reporting that FBI may have evidence of Trump associates coordinating with the Russians on election interference.

Hate to break it to you, but no, apologies are not justified.

It's looking more and more like what Trump said was basically true........it sounded very much like Obama spooks were listening to phone calls from Trump Tower for sure and maybe even phone calls of Trump himself in some cases........and also could have been leaking the info gleaned.

Don't be silly. This matter is now settled. Kaput. Finis. There is no evidence that Trump was wiretapped, whether by Obama or anyone else. None. And the FBI and the NSA looked for evidence. Additionally, they clarified that no President has the authority to order a wiretap on an American citizen. It takes two agencies and a Court to approve it and issue a subpoena, and the request has to come from someone else.

Nunes even made it clear that he was not saying that Trump was wiretapped.

What has happened was that Trump and his cohorts were likely picked up on wiretaps of Russians. That's how it was discovered that the Trump team was having all those communications with the Russians...we always wiretap and surveil our foreign enemies.

Let's say I'm wiretapping YOU, and Person B calls you. I will of course have a tap of your conversation with Person B, but that's not who I'm wiretapping. I'm wiretapping YOUR line.

Did you watch ANY of the briefing of Congress by the FBI and the NSA a day or so ago? If not, look it up online & watch it, so you understand what's going on.

Oh, I watched the latest info on this TODAY........new information. Far from silly.

No Russians involved in the phone conversations. Names that were classified information were revealed in ways that Nunes found troubling. Other information shared in ways that Nunes found troubling.

Again: Trump transition staffers were caught during routine surveillance on targets of foreign surveillance. No one should be shocked by this at all, considering that we know that the US runs surveillance on a broad array of foreign government officials. Those transition staffers were almost certainly just doing their jobs, making calls to foreign political officials. The surveillance was routine, it was legal, the American callers were properly masked, the information was going where it should.

Even Nunes said this doesn't back up Trump's Tweeted accusations.

The levels of mendacity required to shoehorn this into Trump's Tweets is absolutely stunning.
