Should real Americans have built a wall to keep Hispanics out of their country?

Just asking a Columbus Day question.

because today is the day I celebrate true heroes like Columbus but by extension also Pedro de Valdivia and Hernan Cortés and many others.

But apparently this is controversial, so the question is should real patriotic Americans in 1492 have built a big wall to keep those people out?

Columbus was a doofus who couldn’t find water if he fell out of a boat. But he did have a nose for genocide!

ALL of the top Congressional Democrats voted in 2006 for a southern border wall -

"They voted for (a border wall) in 2006. Then-Senator Obama voted for it. Sen. Schumer voted for it. Sen. Clinton voted for it."
<snip>

"We still don’t understand why the Democrats are so wholeheartedly against it. They voted for it in 2006. Then-Sen. Obama voted for it. Sen. Schumer voted for it. Sen. Clinton voted for it. So we don’t understand why Democrats are now playing politics just because Donald Trump is in office."

So why are the democrats totally against the southern border wall now?

Because President Donald Trump wants it. There is no other reason.

The last sentence is false. The Spanish treated indigenous people of the Americas as livestock, of the opinion they were animals, not humans. With this, those unwanted were outright en mass slaughtered. For example, driving an entire indigenous city of people to drown in a lake after picking out those they wanted as working livestock. In this, 100% of all indigenous people were slaughtered to extinction on every Caribbean Island - no exception.
This only finally stopped with the Catholic Pope declared they were humans with souls, so were to be converted - not killed. Simply, they were forced to convert in the name of "God," rather than just being slaughtered no different that shooting coyotes and other vermin.

Perhaps that is why 94 percent or more of the slaves carried by ship out of Africa to the Americas were put on islands of the Caribbean as opposed to landing them on the CONUS.

Like or hate Columbus, who do you know who could persuade others to turn over ships to in order to head out to unknown waters? Somebody had tons of faith in Columbus.

I think the indians, should have done the pilgrims, and kept doing any invaders that came. Still would have massacred them and put them in reservations, but it would have taken decades.

We had a tour guide who told us the original was somewhere under the river as far as anybody could guess. We didn't spend much time there as we wisked off to Williamsburg to that never-ending tour they have.
Ahh Williamsburg where me, my daughter, her husband and their two boys enjoyed a good meal. I would not mind returning.

That is exactly why - replacement employees. Adding the disease kill rates, the indigenous peoples were completely exterminated. Because of the edict of the Pope - and Protestant Christianity too - the blacks could be enslaved and even murdered for pragmatic reasons - but they were considered humans at least officially.

They could have tried, but they would likely have failed because the conquerors where better equipped to fight wars. But to ask that question you would also have to ask if the indigenous tribes should have built walls to protect their camps from other indigenous peoples and their wars against each other.

Ultimately, when you drop the emotion fueled rhetorical bullshit that so many idiot leftists succumb to today, what you realize is that every nation and people on the planet engaged in wars and conquest to establish new homes, lands, and boundaries.

this thread is going to be fun

But the Trump loving OP isn't a racist. :p

And one has to also believe that due to the better climate on the islands food products were from there for more of the year. Fast perishing crops of course had to be home grown.

We had bagged sandwiches and chips from the school cafeteria and your parents paid extra you got a soda instead of the carton of milk ;)

I was there when I was past 65. Oh the grandson had fun chatting up the other customers. I was worried he would wear out his welcome. He now works for Facebook as an engineer since he is maybe 25 years old now.

Original inhabitants of this continent should have slaughtered every last man who tried to step foot on the continent. As that was the intent of those coming in ships.

I don't really recall any specific restaurants in Colonial Williamsburg. I've been back to that area a few times as an adult and have only hit up a few bar and grill type places in Wburg proper. Have relatives in Poquoson and a friend in the navy with a farm over near Gloucester so usually just homecooking/cookout nosh when in the area.

They would have been slaughtered themselves much faster.

Tell me who are the real Americans? The native Americans? The "hispanics" from Mexico/Texas/New Mexico/California? Who decides what is a real American?

What historical evidence do you have of the existence of “real patriotic Americans in 1492”?

I suppose what you are asking is: what would have happened had the Native Americans been able to defeat (or deny entry to) colonial powers and/or to survive the various new diseases which they introduced?

They were, eventually, weren't they.

Many were but they wouldn't have stood much of a chance against firearms and cannons in a kill or be killed war.

Columbus was a genocidal mass rapist who wasn't even good at the one thing he was famous for. He was quite possibly the worst navigator in history. Idiot thought he'd found India. Hence the name "Indians."

I'm a pilot. If I land at an airport ten miles from my destination my ass is getting fired. He was off by seven thousand miles and gets a holiday. What the shit.

well, we see that you're almost always on the opposite side as Christ...

" Throughout his years in the New World, Columbus enacted policies of forced labor in which natives were put to work for the sake of profits. "

Columbus was a capitalist.

He violated no child labor laws.

Did Democrats vote to spend half a trillion dollars on a two thousand mile wall?

No? Then shove your false equivalence. You posted a link rated half-true.

India was the term for all of Asia in those days, the best Maps showed Japan in the spot of California. Columbus thought based on the maps he reached Japan. But he knew where on the globe he was.

if you want to be super meta, he was right to call them Indians in this regard as they originally came from Asia by way of the Bering land bridge

Enslaving and murdering vast numbers of innocent people does nothing to “uproot a society”.

Today, Mexico continues to immensely struggle with corruption problems, roving gangs of narco-terrorists have dominated the streets for decades and have firmly established themselves in the US for years at this point, and smaller communities like the people of the Yucatán still feel subjugated. The conquistadors left nothing but a legacy of greed and brutality.
It doesn’t help to have a power to the North always meddling in your affairs to create problems so their companies can make money
