Should American laws be determined by the Pope?

Do you think politicians in Italy dont make their laws?
Do you think Italian Politicans arent mostly Catholic?
Do you think the Pope has excommunicated them for making abortion legal?
Do you think at all?
Do you think that the threat of excommunication means anything to these Catholic Justices? Things are heating up in Italy as we speak

When speculation about outpatient use of RU486 began to circulate earlier in the summer, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, President of the Pontifical Council for New Evangelization and a former chaplain to the Italian parliament, took to the pages of L’Oservatore Romano, the official Vatican newspaper, to sound an alarm.

Fisichella referred to the abortion pill as “lethal poison,” the use of which is a “crime” that also means an automatic excommunication from the Church, as well as for those who prescribe it or participate in its administration.

at this point, does it matter?

This country is littered with these religious misfits. Why do you think we are so screwed up?
Swearing into elected office on Q'rans and praying on rugs and covering their heads all the time...why do you think we are so screwed up??

With Trumps latest SC pick we will have a majority of 5 Justices on the court that are of the Roman Catholic faith. Catholics are bound by their religion to obey the Pope or be excommunicated so my question is do we now want the Pope to be in charge of our laws? Is that even legal under the Constitution?
Noooo! Opinion from an ex-Catholic. The pope is in charge of the Catholics, should NEVER be in charge of our laws! Keep religion out of government!

Loving this silly notion that the Pope sits there in the Holy See, smoting errant Catholics, like he's the wicked witch of the West staring into the crystal ball his monkeys bring to him. It's laughable.

It's amusing... They trot out the "anit-Catholic" canard like they have a clue... Hell, only a small portion of practicing Catholic women follow the churches beliefs on hormonal birth control (to clarify, the Catholic Church believes that the only form of birth control that is not intrinsically evil is natural planning).

An Archbishop isnt the Pope
How many Italian politicians have been excommunicated over abortion rights?
Not by this Pope but he is not the last Pope either. What if we had a more conservative and proactive Pope who wanted to use his power to control our laws. We have given him a way and you can't deny it.

do you think you made sense?

go away, I don't have an inclination to dumb down to talk to you

That's a good point. Is banning birth control next after outlawing abortions? It could happen with these Catholic Justices. It do not expect the "morality police" to let up when they are on a roll and neither should you. The Church succeeded in spreading HIV throughout Africa by making the use of condoms a sin didn't they?

So you admit no Italian Politican has been excommunicated over abortion rights
But you think the Pope will do that to American citizens?
CT section is that lower down

Is there any foreigner who you would not like to lead this country? We already have Putin calling the shots for Trump now we will have the Pope determining our laws too?

Can you make any more stupis posts

Panicked? Abortions aren't going away and you can't prove that they will.

So right.
What's remarkable is that Catholic Democrats celebrate late-term abortion. Light up the sky! Yet none of the usual suspects have any concern for their souls or what the Pope will do to them.
Wonder why?

Abortion fires up the Democrats' base, period. We go through this violation of Article VI every damn time. Nothing has changed since Kennedy as far as catholics go.

This question was answered in 1960 with the election of JFK. Did RBG blindly obey the direction of her Rabbi?

What a ridiculous statement. Trumps latest appointment virtually guarantees that Roe vs Wade will be overturned and it is not because Trump wants to fire up the Democrats. It is his base that will be cheering.

No. The Supreme Court should not be "in charge of our laws" either. The court is not supposed to make the law.

You do know that Rabbi's do not have authority to excommunicate anyone. Popes do. JFK was not in a position to overturn our laws. The Catholic majority in the SC does.

So they do not have the Pope determining their laws like we will. Our Constitution forbids the establishment of a State religion and when one religion has a majority on the highest court in the land that is the same thing. It this latest justice causes the end of the ACA and legal abortion there will be hell to pay.

Even if Roe V. Wade is completely overturned (unlikely) roughly one half to two thirds of American women will still have a right to a legal abortion.

They certainly can overturn our laws and that is why it is so distressing when one religion is in control of the Supreme Court.

Actually they all would still have the right they might not have the access

You mean because of State laws I assume. How long before those laws are overturned too? There will be a new black market for abortions too. The back alley butchers will be the real beneficiaries of this reactionary insanity.

They existed prior to the Roe v. Wade decision. I assume they would exist after. IIRC some liberal states have already passed legislation to continue to keep abortion legal even if Roe v. Wade is overturned.

As for "how long"? Who knows. Let our people fight it out on a state by state basis. What's so wrong with that?

Unless a future congress bans it nationwide..

Leftists shitting themselves over ACB after supporting catholics in the senior leadership positions in their party all along.

****ing classic.
