Sheinbaum says she rejected Trump offer to send US troops to Mexico (2 Viewers)

Trump is incredibly stupid if he thinks that was something they were going to consider, so some right winger should probably make up some bullshit about why he would do it.

shrug...

Trump offered, she declined. She asked for something, he gave it. Now...it up to her to show results.

If she can't/won't, Trump will take matters into his own hands. He has already made it clear that he won't tolerate Mexico helping illegal aliens and he won't tolerate Mexican terrorist/criminal organizations preying on American.

The ball is in her court.

What are you implying, exactly?

Sigh.

Looking at the responses from the right...as usual...there is no nuance to what they are thinking. Trump offering US troops to come in and "take care of" the Cartels makes about as much sense as Mexico offering to provide their troops to be stationed in America to handle the American junkies that make the Cartels rich. If you all on the right think that would be stupid (and it is), then you should be able to make the mental leap to understand Mexico's refusal of Trump's offer.

Basically, if you do special ops to assassinate, go ahead. Cartel leadership is like a hydra, new heads just keeping up. They are all ready to murder each other, so the threat of US spec ops isn't going to deter them. Plus, if you are a Clancy fan, read "Clear and Present Danger" where even Clancy not only makes this point, but also why he feels doing it is morally wrong and illegal.

So, you want to put boots on the ground in a more obvious fashion? Entire units, operating from US bases, in connection with Mexican authorities and their army who will be riddled with corruption? Go ahead. Be prepared for narco-terrorism. Be prepared for years of being slogged down in a war that can't be won short of actually invading and taking over Mexico. Which will result in...the world making us a pariah state, Mexico's corruption problems become our problems. and those Mexicans who you wanted a wall to be built against, will now not have to worry about said wall anymore since Mexico will become part of America, which means you will pay more in taxes to teach everyone to speak English and to provide basic services at the very least. On top of which, you will be fighting an insurgency of communists and Cartel members who go underground. A situation, not unknown to them.

Now, no matter what level of military intervention that is desired, Trump and his collection of shitheads will learn what we have already known, but due to DOGE and other cuts, is that generally speaking...Mexico is not the only place where drugs come from. It depends on the type of drug. If we are talking heroin (and meth), then yes, quite a bit of it would be Mexico...but also from Asia, which also happens to be a where the majority of the US' fentanyl comes from. Cocaine is from Central and South America with smuggling routes from in and out of Mexico and the Caribbean. So, simply shut down Mexico, right? Well....

We will have to invade Mexico to accomplish that. With the problems I mentioned in paragraph three. And...that opens up the other players to get their drugs into the US as well. They will simply re-route. So, how do you stop that? Take over Asia? Take over Central and Southern America? Special ops won't stop anything of consequence; at best, cause a blip in a supply for a moment. So, it's going to have to be invasion costing lives and treasure for decades to come.

But even then...even then...that might NOT be enough. Why? Because if there's one thing we know about capitalism it is this: if there is a market, there is profit to be made, and a way to make money will be found. And no one, not even Trump, has even tried, in any significant way (and I do mean no one) to figure out how to stop Americans from being junkies and providing such a lucrative market for the word's drug dealers.

Until that gets fixed, none of this MAGA, wet dream bullshit will ever come to anything.

False. I am a great Trump supporter. But thank you for demonstrating once again that the hateful, agry America haters are all on the left.

Given Trump's recent disregard for the Courts & Constitution, you don't see the motivation for disgust for Trump & those supporting him in these endeavors?

Are we not Americans firstly? Upholding the Constitution?

This is the problem many of us are having with MAGA, Fletch. And I think it's an understandable one.

Sheinbaum has been much more cooperative then Obrador. No Mexican official is going to allow Yanqui military to operate on their soil.
We have been fighting the cartels in a cross border war. The USA has been winning, and the migrants are drying up.
If we got involved there, it's so corrupt we could very well put US forces in danger

The cartels hve also came across the border and got a corrupt presence IN the USA.. we can certainly go after them here

If Trump shuts down all traffic crossing the border, Mexico will have a very big problem. That is his leverage.

If by "traffic" you're including the flow of goods, I think the U.S. will be suffering too - without a doubt.

If Trump was dumb enough to invade, an event that I readily admit is possible, because there is no limit to stupid. Trump would almost immediately start negotiating with the Cartels to come up with some sort of deal to get out with a “win” or at least something he could claim was a win that his minions would lap up.

I mean, we are talking about the dolt who negotiated Afghanistan away to the Taliban.

Looks like Trump would be going from the "Gulf of America" to the "Mexico of America"!

A better analogy to the bolded might be:

"Mexico sending their military inside the U.S. to stop gun-running"

If anyone reads a little Mexican history, they'd know that Mexicans get really, really pissed off about "interventions".

You mean LOYAL....a LOYAL supporter of the felon.
There is no such thing as even a GOOD felon supporter, let alone a GREAT one.
If you support him you are supporting a convicted sex offender. Since there are no "great" sex offenders anyone who supports him is supporting sex offenders everywhere. I hate ALL sex offenders.
You should too.

Seems Donny has been asking President Sheinbaum of Mexico to allow US troops to enter Mexico to fight cartels.

Sheinbaum basically told Demented Don to **** off.

Certainly wouldn’t be the first time U.S. military members were deployed in counter drug operations in foreign countries.

Really dumb post.

Even for you.

It would be madness to do what the mega hawks in his administration want to do.

The cartels are an issue, don’t get me wrong, but invading Mexico to fight them, you’ll end up in an absolute shit show.

The Trump administration is laying the groundwork for unilateral action in Mexico and the consequences would be devestating for the US and Mexico.

Indeed, a military approach to battling the cartels is bound to fail because those the military remove can be easily replaced by others.

But maybe it'll look good on TV.

And that's the point.

Not nearly as simple as you suggest.

Well, unless they take out those at the top, which seems unlikely since they aren't even IN Mexico, I suspect there are hierarchies of gangs willing to jump in and take the place of the fallen at the top.

Uh….yes, we’ve invaded plenty of countries in Africa.

Again, what’s your point?

So you're good with Obama sending troops to Africa but not with Trump volunteering troops for Mexico?

If anyone reads a little Mexican history, they'd know that Mexicans get really, really pissed off about "interventions".

I can't imagine anything strengthening the cartels more, than causing a united Mexico - cartels & citizenry together - by giving them a common enemy to coalesce around.

Sigh.

So Mexico is a lost shit hole and we should just stay out of the way and offer no assistance?

Taking out a cartel don isn’t the only way to disrupt the flow of drugs in the short or intermediate term.
