Sensible gun control measures

I never said anything about restricting "individual freedom" or crime. I said persons who don't want to be shot shouldn't be shot. Do you have a problem with that?

And people who don't want to be raped shouldn't be raped. You got a problem with that?

there are a lot of sensible gun control measures that need to be taken

prohibit use of weapons having a military purpose
outlaw handguns
require a background check on all gun ownership transfers
register every gun in the nation
require jail time for possession of an illegal gun ... which will include every gun not found on the national registry by a specific date
and strictly enforce the new - and old - gun laws

will that be enough to rid our nation of illegal guns or gun related homicides? no. but it will be an effective start
and over time - as we can see from japan's experience - gun related tragedy will plummet

So the USA's homicide rates will plummet like Mexico's?

Too bad life isn't that simple. I have to say though, if people didn't do to others what those people don't want done to them a lot of bad issues would go away, but that's never going to be a reality.

Yes. If people don't want to be shot then they should not commit crimes, it is already illegal to shoot folks otherwise.

Dude. Come on.

As distasteful as those comments might be, they are backed by 3 historical precedences in just the past 100 years, if not more, concerning what happens, more often then not, in the wake of disarmament of a population.

glad you mention mexico
notice the influx of unregistered guns
and the correspondingly massive increase in gun violence
thanks for identifying a useful example why more gun controls are essential for our nation

but you missed my point. in order to take out bambi, this would never be needed
and therefor, it should be found illegal to own/possess

And to take out the government should the need arise? Or are you one of those that think that the government will never and never strive/s towards tyranny?

i am one of those who believes the likes of armor piercing ammunition is not designed for defensive purposes but is intended to be used for offensive activities. which is why such items need to be prohibited to the public at large ... IF we truly seek to reduce gun violence
my assumption is that you see no limit to the destructive power which should be available to the man on the street and the devastation that accompanies such weaponry

I just believe that there are better ways to reduce violence and crime. Number one being education. You look at where high crime areas are and what is the common denominator? Low education. So if you truely seek to reduce gun violence then start there.

Besides, there are two biggest things going against you. 1: Criminals don't follow the law so making guns illegal, of any stripe, is worthless as all that it does is disarm innocents. 2: By disarming innocents you open the door to tyranny. Which brings me to the following, why didn't you answer my question? "are you one of those that think that the government will never and never strive/s towards tyranny?" It's a yes or no question. You either do, or you don't. There is no grey area in that question.

Faulty logic. There are upwards of 300,000,000 unregistered firearms here in the U.S. Mexico has approx 20,000,000 registered weapons. So let's unrealistically guess that there are even possibly 5 times that number of unregistered weapons in Mexico, that is still far less than the U.S. Yet we have nowhere near the firearms murder rate.
The majority of the murders in Mexico are thug on thug just as they are here.
Those numbers show only that it is a criminal subculture issue and not a gun issue.

I'm having a hard time finding your unit patch....is this it?

Yeah, and those originally came from US government.

Yeah, and those originally came from US government.

kind of makes you wonder why the dicknbush regime began that practice

No but it does make me wonder why Obama is still doing it.

wrong
Obama's administration ended the gun walking practices initiated during the dicknbush regime

Wrong, they just called it "fast and furious"... If it ended since, it's only because they've been caught.
