Senator Tim Kaine says America created slavery

We didn’t invent slavery, just perfected and industrialized it.
 
Kaine's son is a domestic terrorist who attacked Republicans with a chemical and explosives terrorist attack.

One commenters opinion aside the more accurate picture in in the 1850's the Democrat Party had no real rival, the Whigs were disintegrating and there was a power vacuum. The GOP is more accurately described as wanting to limit the power of the Southern states in congress. The GOP stood for banks, gold standard, HIGH tariffs for northern industry. They were pro northern business. They wanted an end to slavery to reduce the representation of southern states in Congress by ending allowing slaves to be partially counted for seats but not allowed to vote.

Now since the 1960's the GOP has become home to southern voters who don't support integration, or inclusive voter rights.

Put in simple terms in the pre civil war South you couldn't find a Republican, in the 1990's you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a dozen Republicans- and that ain't because the south suddenly embraces Lincoln as the fight over Confederate statues tends to show... :peace

The root of chattel slavery in the US begins with the Spanish. In 1508, Ponce de Leon established the first settlement near present-day San Juan and began enslaving the indigenous Tainos. In 1513, to supplement the dwindling Tainos population, the first enslaved African people were imported to Puerto Rico.

I live in Southwest Florida and every other street and park are named after Ponce de Leon. Tens if not hundreds of statues honoring the explorer are scattered throughout the region.

slavery has existed since the dawn of time.
