Senator Alex Padilla just ASSAULTED law enforcement

I don’t blame the officers/agents in this case. Pretty clear, that they were following the shitty, but lawful directions given by MAGAt Noem.

It appears we have a double standard. When a mob breaks into the Capitol, and law enforcement is attacked and injured by flag pole swinging hooligans, the hooligan is the victim and gets pardoned. When a US Senator gets slightly assertive trying to ask a question of another government official, he gets handcuffed and every Trumper gets livid demanding the harshest treatment.

I am unable to defend or lay blame on any involved because the video clips of the event start AFTER law enforcement is shoving him out of the room. If the Senator simply said he wanted to ask a question and law enforcement immediately started physical force then it is the fault of police.

If, on the other hand, he was repeatedly trying to interrupt Noem's press briefing and declined to keep quiet, and if asked to leave the room, refused, then law enforcement acted lawfully in ejecting him.

In any event it is bad optics for the administration and should have been avoided if at all possible.

Based on the report I read Padilla wasn't wearing any Senate ID, didn't have security or staff with him, lunged toward the podium, was told to back off and lunged again.

DHS said on X that Secret Service agents believed Padilla was an attacker and they acted accordingly.

'Senator Padilla chose disrespectful political theatre and interrupted a live press conference without identifying himself or having his Senate security pin on as he lunged toward Secretary Noem,' the agency said.

'Mr. Padilla was told repeatedly to back away and did not comply with officers’ repeated commands. @SecretService thought he was an attacker and officers acted appropriately.

Nobody is required to always have their papers presented. People can walk towards the podium. You have to wait for them to commit a crime before you can touch them. "Lunging" towards a podium ain't it. Did they have an agent of the venue trespass him so he was legally unwelcome? No? Oopsy.

He tried to interrupt a press conference, he refused to leave, he put his hands on security. He didn't follow orders of law enforcement. What you want, let him do anything he likes. He's an ass.

Democrats spent 2019 through 2024 supressing free speech. They tried hard to keep any dissent from being spoken. They leaned on social media execs to get them to censor opposing voices. Who is for "free speech"? It's not democrats.

Y'know what, you're right. Your own right to free speech trump's everyone else's right to free speech because the whole world is all about YOU and everyone else come several miles behind that. There is no requirement to preserve personal space or professional decorum when YOU want to be heard because YOU are YOU and they are them. That didn't feel like the "full video". I would have liked to see what happened before those two men starting manhandling the Senator.

I saw him standing his ground and resisting being pushed out. Those men said nothing to him - no explanation of what was happening or why. Also, notice that Padilla remains calm and doesn't even raise his voice.
