Senator Alex Padilla just ASSAULTED law enforcement

First thing he said is he is Senator Alex Padilla and he wanted to ask a question. She knew exactly who he was. He is on the Immigration, Citizenship and Border Security Subcommittee. I am sure she spoke with him during her confirmation hearing.

Y'know what, you're right. Your own right to free speech trump's everyone else's right to free speech because the whole world is all about YOU and everyone else come several miles behind that. There is no requirement to preserve personal space or professional decorum when YOU want to be heard because YOU are YOU and they are them. I think both of you have this all figured out and I wish you well in your pursuit of all that YOU seek to do and say.
Not me. The United States Senator from California.

How can you make an opinion based on an incomplete video? What provoked the whole scenario? Did he try to force his way in as an uninvited guest and told to stop. To me there’s more to this than a short video of the tussle. He may or may not have initiated confrontation. If he did he got what he deserved.

If he didn't?

Do you remember when MYG and Boebert yelled at Biden during his speech to congress. Di you see either of them thrown down and handcuffed and led off, no. because politicos aoften interrupt each other, but only in an authoritarian state does that happen.

Hey. Never met you before (which is crazy after we've both been here 5 years). Just wanted to take the opportunity to say I like your name. That's all.

Per usual, your commentary is pithy, well thought out and of literary standards we should all aspire to. Excellent work!
Too bad congressional districts one and six in your Arizona are so gerrymandered to tRumPutiin invertebrates Schweikert and Ciscomani.

The senator whom you seem to be fully supportive of in this action. If you support his action then, logically, you also support the concept that "rights" belong to you and you alone, the rights of others be damned.

Nobody is required to always have their papers presented. People can walk towards the podium. You have to wait for them to commit a crime before you can touch them. "Lunging" towards a podium ain't it. Did they have an agent of the venue trespass him so he was legally unwelcome? No? Oopsy.
When a federal officer is giving a press conference, one does not have the right to barge in and start yelling and shooting off his mouth.
He did not immediately identify himself. The FBI rightfully removed him while they put him in a different room.
Director of Homeland Security was able to complete her press conference and then went and sat with the senator to address his concerns.

If the blowhard had just took a seat and listened, maybe he would have gotten answers to his questions.

You've seen a video none of us have seen?

True, but he wouldn't have got his 15 minutes of TV fame so I'm sure he feels like this act was totally worth it.

He already got his 15 minutes by becoming a Senator. Next excuse.

Right. Ill add you to the list of people who believe that their right to free speech (or anything else) trump's everyone else's right. Americans need to get it through their thick heads that left wingers are better than everyone else and, as such, deserving of deference no matter what the circumstances.

What I support is free speech and the rule of law, not thuggery.

Yeahh...I'm really not buying that because creating a public disturbance is generally against the law and you are SUPPORTING him in that.

No I'm not. It's not a public disturbance unless he was legally asked to leave, which I have no seen evidence of.

Well said.👍

It was a press conference. Padilla, to the best of my knowledge, isn't press. People get kicked out of these kind of events all the time for protesting or interrupting, or even assaulting the speaker. The reason they get kicked out is because they're causing a disturbance. I fully understand that, because you agree with Padilla's political stance, you don't believe that Noem has any right to get her message out but that's YOUR belief, not reality.

I am unable to defend or lay blame on any involved because the video clips of the event start AFTER law enforcement is shoving him out of the room. If the Senator simply said he wanted to ask a question and law enforcement immediately started physical force then it is the fault of police.

If, on the other hand, he was repeatedly trying to interrupt Noem's press briefing and declined to keep quiet, and if asked to leave the room, refused, then law enforcement acted lawfully in ejecting him.

In any event it is bad optics for the administration and should have been avoided if at all possible.
Your post makes sense. Don’t expect acceptance of its logic by some here.
