I think the idea that the media tries to peddle, that being that Anita Hill was an "effective" witness twenty odd years ago is laughable. She got backed into or allowed herself to be backed into the world of the Senate Hearing room. She got herself caught up in a world of double entendre, decorum, innuendo and the gentility expected of women.

Hill should have:
- thrown the whole standard tired process on its ear, first by NOT allowing her parents to the Hearing Room. She needed to say things that would have been uncomfortable for her parents to hear. Its the Supreme Court appointment. If you are concerned about what your parents hear, get them outta' there! Steel yourself for having to be very specific about the acts of Sexual Abuse or Sexual Harassment as the case may be.
- she should have used the words Thomas used in his sexual harassment of her. Never mind this double entendre, innuendo and decorum BS. Say the words. If it were a trial, Hill would have been forced to say the words. Go look at recordings of that hearing. She never said the words! I don't care how uncomfortable those words made her feel as a woman and I surely would not have given a rats behind if the Senators left that hearing ashen faced. SAY THE WORDS! Had she done so, those Senators would have been thrown back on their heels and would NEVER have been able to attack Hill to any degree that would have been effective.

My advice to Ford is the same I would have had for Hill. Tell them what happened to you exactly. Never mind this double entendre, decorum and gentility horse dung. Say the words. If the Senators don't like it .....TOO BAD!!! Don't support horses butt ends Senator and you won't be pushed into places you don't want to go.

Yes, there is doubt about that. Professor Ford mentioned it to a therapist 6 years ago, when nobody knew Kavanaugh would one day be nominated to the SCOTUS, and nobody even knew that Trump would be president.

Is there some reason to think they would do a terrible job? Isn't that largely the reason we have a free press because we need them to inform us and ensure we hear the whole truth to inform our beliefs as best as possible so that we can make good choices?

If you ever find yourself trusting the word of politicians over the word of the free press as a whole then there is something wrong with your mind. Trump can be objectively demonstrated to be the single most dishonest politician in at least modern American History, probably all of American History. If you're trusting his word over the word of the vast majority of reporters in the country then you need your head examined.

Actually I think this is looking more like the transformation we went through from John Kennedy to Gary Hart. John Kennedy could never have survived in a Gary Hart world. As I had expressed in other threads, having lived through the whole Prep School thing myself and recognizing that the Jesuit Prep Schools were all drunken stuporvilles that acted as feeder schools that then passed their students on to Jesuit drunken stuporville colleges thus continuing the shell of secrecy and protection from actual authority these kids iived under I often wondered myself "are we really supposed to be getting away with this".

I am more inclined to think the whole "thing" of the Prep school environment and the kind of "public servant" it has produced since at least the mid-1970's is about to undergo the John Kennedy/Gary Hart experience.

Sort of interesting as if it happens it will be happening as the wave of complaints about Catholic priests like Father Pull-Down-Your-Pants crests over us as well.

The societal environment has changed for the better that we no longer ignore sexual assault. However, the pendulum has seemed to swing so far that only an accusation is enough to ruin a persons life. That part is not good.

I know that Trump doesn't back me anymore than many of those in the Democratic Party, especially not being in the military. Other GOP members do care about and back the military, just as many of the Dem Party do.

Actually, her husband claims she did, it simply is not in the therapist's notes that she named anyone.

I'm still trying to figure out if there is anywhere to find these therapist's notes so we can see how they are laid out, written. How much detail went into them at all.
