"A Russian TV anchor was fired almost immediately after coming out as a gay man during a broadcast last week.
"I'm gay, and I'm just the same person as you, my dear audience, as President Putin, as Prime Minister Medvedev and the deputies of our Duma," KontrTV anchor Anton Krasovsky said directly into the camera during last Friday's broadcast."*
TV anchor Anton Krasovsky or Russia's KontrTV came out as gay on air, despite the country's starkly anti-gay attitudes and government policies. He was quickly fired. What changed the Russian people's minds about gay rights, and why? Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, Ben Mankiewicz, and Brian Unger discuss.
so any gay foreigner needs to be fast tracked into the US--why exactly?
No. Marxist-Leninism is not democratic socialismThis is from the country that has espoused the ideology you state is your choice.
Well saying your "point" is based in no factual information...Maybe you should go over there and teach them how they've gone against the path of democratic socialism.
Just sayin'.

Because he is going to be targeted because of his sexuality.

Russia is now a capitalist nation
Just sayin'
Putin is part of a right wing party....I'm referring to Putin's Russia, not the USSR.
Yea exactly why im confused how your trying to compare a far right wing corporatist capitalist party to a democratic socialist party, which holds little to no actual power in Russia. And if you haven't noticed, the USSR hasn't been around for a while.
Really? By supporting privatization, neo-liberal ideas, flat tax policy, and global "free trade"...Putin has instituted the modern version of Democratic Socialism in Russia.
:dohVenezuela tried but went further toward Marxist-Leninist, Maoist Communism than actual Democratic Socialism, even though Hugo Chavez is heralded as a stellar example of a Democratic Socialist.

Not really.
Their economy has capitalistic elements, but they are far from a capitalist nation. To say so, would allow for the same determination of China because Hong Kong exists.

Seriously? You've bought all that. You do realize that what is referred to as the "right" there has nothing to do with the "right" here. What is considered "conservative" here has nothing to do with what is considered or called "conservative" in other countries or other political ideologies.
Putin would not be considered on the right here in the US. He would be further left than Bernie Sanders.
Yes, really
It does have some non-capitalistic elements, but saying that it's not capitalist is like saying the US is not capitalist because we have Social Security
:lamo
So any facts you wanna throw around or a bunch of talking points. Please tell me how Putin's russia is "democratic socialist".. .
If I said the Russian economy was not capitalistic at all, then I was not correct. I was referring to the political structure more than the economic structure. Democratic Socialistic economies have to have some element of capitalism or the people suffer from devastating poverty (Russia, Cuba and China, until they started capitalistic reforms, and North Korea still).
I don't get that. Capitalism is not a political structure; it's an economic one.
As far as it's political system goes, it's barely "democratic".
If you can't recognize your own chosen ideology when you see it, there's nothing I can do to help you out.
So no you cant?

I say we give this guy asylum in the US.
Super brave guy. He should be applauded, for real, because he's putting his life on the line. I hope the Russian government doesn't arrest or do anything worse to him.
