The equaliser argument asserts the need for guns as a defence against strength imbalances between races, genders and ages. Yet we can also compare the equaliser argument to basic physiques. Should overweight people be allowed handguns just to defend against thin people of the same gender, race and age? Or should thin people be allowed guns from a younger age to defend against older overweight people? If people focused on self-defence through simple athletics training then no one would be so obsessed about guns as a means of personal defence. The deception of armed stand your ground laws is that weaker people should never be in the habit of verbally escalating an argument against stronger people to begin with when it comes to provocation. A problem with equaliser arguments is that children shouldn't be physically equal with adults. Hence guns create an absurdity where immature young teenagers could easily beat adults when they all have guns. Each physique requires a certain level of discipline and self-control where guns artificially alter the balance. For example I could probably feel like a powerful bodybuilder if I fired a machine gun. Yet this wouldn't be a suitable sensation unless I was in a training camp or at war.

That literally makes no sense, and this thread is about different firearms that are nice looking.

Speaking of: Blinged out Spencer carbine.

Most men don't want their wife to be armed during sex or else they wouldn't feel reassuringly stronger than her. Likewise most women don't want their man to be armed in bed either as they might actually distrust him. Pretty much all porn media where guns aren't visible are a tacit endorsement of gun control.

This ‘equalizer‘ argument seems to assume that defensive gun use or armed self-defense requires shooting (or shooting at) someone and/or that a criminal predator is equally apt to attack (prey upon?) a known to be armed victim as a known to be unarmed victim. IMHO, neither of those assumptions has merit.

You then go on to imply (assert?) that SYG laws encourage escalation of a given ‘conflict’ incident (criminal attack?) by the intended victim, yet don’t support that assertion with anything other than you (personally) feel more empowered when (if?) armed.

None of those (linked) photos depict anyone having sex or being armed in bed. You seem to be obsessed with the idea that guns cause some behavioral change in those who have them.

Unregulated guns could create the same psychological problems as steroid usage.

Roid rage: "an outburst of anger, aggression, or violence attributed to the use of anabolic steroids."

Those who use the cliché of keeping a handgun under their pillow at night are hopefully sleeping as a single person when they do so. Otherwise a wrong turn during sleep that awakens their partner could cause shock!

Man that is some ideas there.

I used to have a buddy that would come up with ideas like this whenever he got stoned. Was good entertainment for a little while. Then just got annoying.

Only if one allows a tool to have the impact of taking a mind altering drug.

I’m not one of those, yet you seem to be.

To hell with fisticuffs.

My son- no stranger to fighting- did some boxing while he was with the 82nd. For several months, and he was fairly successful. He ultimately quit, though. Told me the bad thing about boxing, was even if you win you still get the shit beat out of you.

Reminded me, Mike, of a post I made back in August in a thread titled "Top 5 Reasons To Be A Gun Owner"...
