(Reuters) Exclusive: Harris leads Trump 44% to 42% in US presidential race, Reuters/Ipsos poll finds

I know all these Democrats are excited about Kamala Harris and I get that. But what has she accomplished as VP? Not much is what I'm hearing. At the beginning of Biden's term in office she was assigned the task of dealing with the Border Crisis and did literally nothing in the past 3 1/2 years. She didn't even bother to meet with the head of the Border Patrol. And in her first rally in Milwaukee today all she talked about is what she did as a prosecutor in California. Democrats need to wake up and smell the coffee. Biden selected her to be his VP because she was a female and black. Other than that, an Empty Chair, so to speak. That's a shame because there are certainly more Democrats with accomplishments that qualify them to be Commander-in-Chief. Not someone who would just sit around for the last 3 1/2 years twiddling their thumb.

You know...if I see Democrats on this board bragging about polls should Harris pull ahead and stay ahead...I'm going to shit all over you guys for telling me polls were wrong all the time that Biden was behind.
Whatever. You do you, Boo.

Your opinion is noted. Please keep us updated.

It's almost like you're lashing out like a 5-year old. Is that what you're doing?
I’m I not accurately reflecting what you believe? Maybe you’ve just convinced me.

What did Dan Quayle accomplish as Bush Sr's VP?
What did Al Gore accomplish as Clinton's VP?
What did Joe Biden accomplish as Obama's VP?
What did Mike Pence accomplish as Trump's VP?

Pretty much nothing. Vice Presidents are not held to the standard of "what did they accomplish as VP" because it's not a fair or realistic criticism. They're supposed to stay out of the spotlight and let the President have the helm. Really the only VP in recent memory that didn't stay out of the way was Dick Cheney, and look how that turned out lol.

This, as far as I know, is the first poll that looks at Harris vs Trump that takes into account the RNC and Biden's announcement.

Its a good opener and hopefully other polls start painting a similar picture and begin to show popular sentiment moving towards Harris.
LOL - this quote from the OP who started this thread at 1:48 PM, today.

Meanwhile, this morning, about 6 hours ago.
Whew, that week just zipped right on by.

There hasn't been time for anything to be reflected in the polls yet.

Lets wait a week.

what the hell are you talking about with the sex thing? please use English and not "womp womp"

Harris gets a bounce - being a new Democratic nominees did you expect otherwise?
Polls aren't "slipping way" they arent even established. and she hasn't faced any hostile questions
or negative ads.

The election is what is always was -tribal. now you got a chief who isn't a dotard, but not much else
except your usual ID politics. And Harris is inexplicably tied to Biden's horrid outcomes

Wait a couple weeks till the caffeine rush stops -then we;ll see
biden4.webp

It must feel good to shoot themselves in the foot. :)

I can assure you that if Trump is reelected and instructs Vance to complete a task it will be done. Biden crowned Harris the Border CZAR to come up with recommendations to fix it. She did literally nothing. To me that's either Insubordination or Incompetence or both on Harris's part. Par for the course in the Biden Administration as demonstrated by the disgraced former Secret Service Director.

I can't wait to see polls taken next week or so. They'll give us a better idea of how Harris's rollout has gone over with the public.

I'm predicting a Harris lead above the margin of error. Which would be awesome.

Her assigned role and responsibility on the border was greatly exaggerated by many.

Harris was never put in charge of the border or made "border czar," immigration experts said. President Joe Biden tasked Harris with leading the administration's diplomatic efforts addressing the "root causes" of migration in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

Oh, sure, a VP can wave a magic wand and "solve" an intractable issue that's been with us for decades. It's really easy, but Harris chose not too because she was too tired.

Get serious, or take your traveling comedy show elsewhere.

In fairness, Pence saved us from a coup.
Also,
Biden got a corrupt Ukrainian prosecutor fired.
As you mentioned, Cheney used 9/11 as a pretext to invade soveriegn Iraq based on incorrect intel, shocking the world, killing over a million people, and sticking us in a quagmire while letting bin Laden escape. Until Obama got him.
Gore launched his "reinventing government" initiative.
Quayle taught us how to properly spell "potatoe."

So great to see. Hope her lead keeps expanding. Trump must be apoplectic.
Thanks for posting, Slarty. When I said this would happen 2 days ago, the unhinged MAGA folk here were all over my shit. Wait till Harris gets douche bag on a debate stage.

Wait...we were told yesterday that Trump was smashing Harris is polls.
As these polls continue towards Harris, the new cry from MAGA will be "polls don't matter". That's just the way these people roll.

She will get a positive surge coming off of Biden stepping down, and America's relief at not having to make that decision.

At some point it will ease off, as Republican messaging is able to shift to her vulnerabilities. 44-42 still leaves 24% of people out there; that's a lot of wiggle room.
