Republicans to scrap primaries and caucuses

twump is polling behind at least 4 dems. You should really try and pay better attention.

We should cancel the election then and just put a Dem in the White House since trump isn't polling well... that's the standards being used by trumpettes in here.

Cant be rigged any worse than Hillary vs Bernie now can it?

Well, yeah, canceling the contests is as rigged as it can get. Certainly more serious than snarky internal emails behind a candidate’s back.

Yup! The problem with the US electoral system is less about election irregularities and far more about the nomination processes. Tweedism dominates these party-controlled nomination processes and thus imposes party-controlled electoral hypoxia on US voters. Democratic Party and Republican Party alike.

Cheers.

Don't kid yourself, this is an attempt by the trumplicans to keep a challenger from running.

OK, find us a viable challenger, then you can complain.

There are actually a few challengers out there. Do you even know their names?

I can't wait for the Republicans, far-right conservtives, TEAparty members and supposed independents who attacked Hillary for the biased 2016 primary against Bernie Sanders but they somehow can perform the mental gymnastics to support the GOPO not have primaries so moderate and pragmatic Republicans can not voice this disapproval toward Trump.

The fact that they are even considering this idea means that the GOP leadership know Donald Trump is very unpopular, even among registered Republicans.

Most of the history of the US the parties have not selected candidates democratically. It was controlled by party bosses until fairly recently.

Making it democratic is how we got Trump. Under the old system Trump would not even be considered.

That isn’t how this is supposed to work and it doesn’t matter if they are perceived as “viable” or not. It is an incredible moment when a political party says you aren’t voting because they’ve already crowned a candidate king.

Kasich, this is designed to stop him from running. Am I allowed to complain now? You can stop being so high and mighty now.

The party decides how it will work.

When Trump was running for prez and even after he won many moderate Republicans and true conservatives vowed to keep the Republican party true to their conservative values, and principles of right and wrong and their moral values.

All that's out the window now. The GOP is now truly to party of Trump, the name calling, insulting, hate filled, un-Christian values, sharpie using to prove he's right about everything party.

I am SOOOOO GLAD I got the F out of the Republican party in 2010.

The party has to decide whether or not having these primary battles will hurt their chances in the general election. Remember how Bernie supporters got sore and stayed at home for the election? I bet you guys wish that hadn't happened.

In the meantime, I'm having trouble finding confirmation for this story. Fake news?

What hurts their chances in the general election is putting a candidate on the ballot without even knowing if the Republican electorate want him let alone the independents who decide elections. It will go into 2020 with no surety of that and my prediction is they’ll pay the price for it and it could cost them the one election they can’t stop.
