Wouldn't it be nice if Limbaugh returned to his radio show with that same attitude. We're all Americans. We're all in this together. Well-reasoned arguments for pragmatic solutions to societies problems. Constructive criticism to President Obama's policies.

Of all the people to interview Limbaugh and actually get him on the ropes, I was surprised to see William Shatner ever so calmly corner Rush with logic on the issue of health care reform. But he is and will always be the Captain.

His point of reference is we are all Americans and the country is great not because of government, The Nanny State... but because of individual rights and freedoms. He vigorously defends his point of view from this foundation, and skewers nonsensical Libs with their crisis of the moment, and incremental movement towards the nanny State controlling every aspect of our lives.

In the "we are all Americans" vein, he aggressively pursues the destruction of the fractionalization of America. He see us as Americans... not black, red, yellow, etc. with equal rights, and a country full of opportunity for all.

Those that don't cherish Liberty, have a price they are willing to sell it for like a bunch of cheap whores certainly will be pissed at Rush's 15 hours a week focused laserlike on exposing and defeating them.

On the ropes? LOL... nothing of the sort. In fact, Rush had that clip on his website for some time; a rarity in the longevity dept. In fact, it's still there, or back up!

That is not true. Limbaugh's audience is conservative men, mostly. It is THE most conservative audience for conservative radio shows.

So let me see if I have the crux of your thought here hazlnut. It's ok for commentators to spew garbage against Geroge Bush, ala, Hartman, Schultz, Rhodes, and Miller. It's ok for them to say anything they wish against American interests during a time of war when American men and women are in harms way. It's ok to misrepresent, distort, and outright lie about a political position as long as it is coming from a repub. Let's face facts here. And the simple truth is that radio talk show commentators get audiences, and keep them listening day in and day out through the use of colorful hyperbole on both sides of the political spectrum.

The man is an icon in talk radio, and in the lines of his show he has offered constructive criticism, the problem is that although liberals have talk show hosts that spew the very same type of rhetoric against conservatism, they just can't stand when they get what they dish out.

I haven't seen that interview, but I know that Rush has talked of it on his show, and "on the ropes" is not how it was described at all. In fact I think you may be seeing what you want to see in that regard.

Well, he's a polarizing figure. I guess you either love him or hate him. I echo the post I saw yesterday that expressed surprise about his age.

He's only 58? He seems much older than that. Not the picture of health.

You know, I don't love him, I don't hate him. There are times I agree with him and others where he makes me cringe. However, I celebrate his right to do what he does. He is very good at it and people listen to him. He also does a lot of charity work. Sadly, there are some people on here who look at the world in black and white when in reality it is full of countless shades of gray.

I really believe that his goal originally was to be a comedian and lampoon politics. His humor was specifically for the right.

The problem is that people started taking some of his stuff seriously. Then he started taking himself seriously. What I hate is that people take the show as being "real" politics. Talk about black and white, you never hear any gray in the show. We're right, they're wrong. Plays well with his audience.

I wouldn't call myself a regular listener. But I hear this from people who are his long term fans. For years he marketed his program as a show designed to make liberals "foam at the mouth." Notice that the show was not designed to enlighten and inform. You need many angles to do that.
