Remember that cop in Illinois who was killed by 3 bad guys.

Not so fast! Turns out he was rotten and killed himself.

Troubling. I feel bad not for him but for his wife who will lose his pension and death benefits. Selfish prick.

Charles Gliniewicz 'committed suicide because he'd been caught using department cash' | Daily Mail Online
**** every worthless "Blue Lives Matter" piece of **** who blamed this on the Black Lives Matter movement. It's amazing how many people say BLM shouldn't criticize police because "it puts police lives in danger" and yet they had no problem spouting hateful rhetoric about BLM when this officer died. Utter trash.

His family deserve nothing, and also deserve the public ridicule that will ensue.

There is no way his family could not see that they were living way, way above his salary.
They said he stole '5 figures' worth of money and it seems that a lot of that he used for personal stuff his family might not have known about (e.g. adult websites). Since he seems to have stolen, at most, $99,999 over a seven year period, it's entirely possible that the family was not living "way, way above his salary" and they didn't know what he was doing. I wouldn't convict the family just yet. If there's one thing this case shows us, it's that drawing definite conclusions before knowing everything is not a wise move.

That is a very fair observation.

Yes she was horribly depressed her family didn't no idea how bad it was. That was deeply saddening

This guy not so much.

Off topic he Vols suck. 11 in a row!

agreed.

you guys should be 10-1 when be play florida state and the you will play either LSU or alabama for sec champ game.

my bet is you will loose one of those games.

go suck some eggs!! lol.................

What difference does that make? Some people's suicides are sad and heart wrenching, and some ... not so much. This guy is definitely in the "not so much," side of the equation.

when you can see the affect it has on family and friends, it does make a difference and to them, it is sad and heart wrenching.

i'm not going to judge this person.

I'd agree that's a tough slate. With Will Grier I'd make us the favorite to win out. Think we beat F$U but lose to the west. Considering most had us a 7-5. I'll take a Sugar Bowl appearance.

My apology. I was wrong. I am, nonetheless, amazed that a benefit partly funded by an officer can be taken away. It will be interesting in this case to see if they can revoke his pension without due process...which may have been yet another motive for his suicide.

Again, I apologize. I was quite certain. Quote certainly wrong. Ha!

You actually weren't wrong- he will get what he paid in- just not the full pension amount.

From the article:

"State law calls for him to be paid his original employee contributions to his pension -- roughly $139,000 over the years -- minus pension payments the board sent him after he was formally convicted May 29. "

Yeah, the whole thing is damn shame, particularly all those cops and pipers that came from all over to send off a brother who was killed in the line of duty. I think he did it to save his pension. The more I watch in videos, the weaker the person I see.

I wonder if there'll be any demonstrations?

Where are all the posters when this first came out were blaming Obama and calling it a race war. We are so quick to jump to conclusions.

Porn sites? What the heck.

The usual cop worshippers are remarkably silent.

Why is it disappointing? Dirty cops are obvious like a filthy greasy stain on the canvass of America. Obvious and glaring but if you point it out then all of a sudden the criticism becomes about you.
I'm disappointed that the family is involved as I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

AP source: Wife, son of dead Illinois cop also investigated

Melodie Gliniewicz helped her husband run the explorer program, in which he put young people interested in law enforcement careers through sophisticated training exercises. In a newspaper interview weeks ago, D.J. Gliniewicz angrily dismissed suggestions that his father took his own life.

This week's revelations stunned people in Fox Lake, a village of 10,000 people about 50 miles north of Chicago where the 52-year-old married father of four had long been a role model.

How does a village this small have an Explorer program that has this much money running through it!?

Seems like there are a plethora of stupid people in Fox Lake, IL, especially in the PD and local government.

Well I hope everyone engaging in the criminal activity, civilian and cop alike, are rooted out and properly punished. But it is sad and a shame that the cop took his own life.

And now they report that the officer tried to put a hit on the administrator thru a motorcycle gang They also found cocaine in his desk. I'd EVER a man lived a lie? This guy did.

That's just wrong man. It is more than possible they didn't know. Especially th kids
Agree with this. The wife may have known, or maybe not. It's very plausible that the kids didn't know.

Anyway, having said that, this is one bizarre story.

No kidding - I read today that he was told the day before that his program was being audited.

The key is to never get into anything that bad in the first place.

I figured that the 'other two being investigated' were cops, not his family - oops.

Still do not understand how all money was taken and spent lavishly in suck a small village without someone questioning something.

Maybe he was also a bully - it goes with the mentality.

You should quit digging yourself a hole. While I don't have the story at my fingertips Illinois state law requires the termination of pension benefits to any officer who has committed a felony that relates to, arises out of or is connected with his or her work as an officer.

see attached story of similarly corrupt Illinois cop in prison.

Former Illinois Police Chief in Prison Loses Pension | Officer.com

There is something wrong with me. I do not suffer fools. Do yourself a favor and stop posting on subjects you know nothing about.

I gotta say, you certainly have a Carly Fiorina way about you when you state things that are completely untrue. So certain. So wrong.

From today's Chicago Sun Times:

Gliniewicz, a 32 year-veteran, earned a salary of about $96,000. He had sought to retire at the end of September. His pension is undetermined, according to Fox Lake spokesman David Bayless. Police pension board attorney Laura Goodloe did not return messages Wednesday.

But pension experts said his wife might be entitled to his pension, at least for now, because state law is clear that a pension can only be stripped if an officer is convicted of a felony in the line of duty. Since he is dead, Gliniewicz can be charged with nothing, much less convicted.

And now they report that the officer tried to put a hit on the administrator thru a motorcycle gang They also found cocaine in his desk. I'd EVER a man lived a lie? This guy did.

Typical cop behavior.

From today's Chicago Sun Times:

He's dead so he's not getting a red cent. His wife and son are complicit so even without the law I mentioned they're not getting a red cent. If there are pension distributions it will go to plaintiffs.

I have schooled you AGAIN!
