What happened yesterday, bad and criminal as it was, did not occur in a vacuum. Haven’t we been exhorted for awhile now to make an effort to understand why “unrest” occurs? For months, we’ve seen violence, assaults on police, looting and rioting either denied, minimized, explained away or downright justified. Shoot, some state and city leaders sided with the rioters and had their police departments stand down. A “bail fund” for those arrested was endorsed by Biden and Harris. Is it any wonder, then, that some saw that as not only as tolerating violence, but that violence actually works? Pretty much any time demands are met, like “defunding” the police for example, to avoid the lawless violence of others, the message is that violence is effective. That’s why we don’t/can’t compromise with terrorists. Had the violence last year been consistently and roundly condemned by everyone, I cannot believe many of the people, yesterday, would have felt justified in their actions.

Finally, I don’t think calling the violence yesterday treason or sedition is particularly useful (but I do understand it). My understanding is that the woman shot and killed by police was an Air Force veteran. Do we truly believe she was seeking to overthrow the government? Regardless of what you call it, what happened yesterday was criminal and our criminal laws, federal and state, are more than adequate to the perpetrators accountable as they absolutely need to be.

Lol, completely unsurprisingly, you guys are still trying to find a way to blame democrats for this. Nope, these are your ideological kin and it'd be great if you guys took responsibility for your own actions for once in your lives. Hilariously, you now have the gall to decry police violence and ask if there was a better way.

You lost fair and square, and that makes you so angry you'd rather burn the whole country down than let someone else run it.

........it didn't just happen.

The cult got their marching orders from trump.

They "stopped the steal" for him.

Own it.

The Democrats aren't calling it democracy, now. Why not?

Y'all defended the ANTIFA/BLM riots far too long to try and act high and mighty, now.

Conservatives failure to own their failure is pathetic.

Democracy doesn't mean you can violently overthrow the government because you're butt-hurt you lost the election. It's literally the opposite.

You weren't saying that when BLM'ers stormed the Ohio state house, or destroyed $8 billion worth of private property in Minneapolis. You all defended and justfied that shit.

Yes I was, and no I didn't. Quotes please.

Indeed, Trumpism has brought us not only disease and a failed economy but more violence than we have had in decades.

Let me know when the US Capital building is in Ohio or Minnesota.

Ashli Babbit was an Air Force Veteran. She also was a QAnon supporter.
"A Twitter account under Babbitt’s name included pictures and posts indicating she was a follower of the QAnon conspiracy theory. Babbitt’s post also indicate she was a strong supporter of Trump, believed the election was stolen from him, and planned to attend the protests Wednesday.

Babbitt retweeted a post from Trump attorney Lin Wood, which has since been removed, calling for Vice President Mike Pence to resign and be charged with treason.

She also responded to a tweet Tuesday from another Trump supporter that implied flights into D.C. were being improperly canceled to try to limit attendance on Wednesday.
Woman shot and killed at Capitol was security forces airman, QAnon adherent (airforcetimes.com)

Is this where we once again pretend that swarming in to the Capitol to bust up crap and stop the counting of electors is something that is normal?

I have a question for all 2nd Amendment lovers. Does DC allow guns to be brandished during supposedly peaceful protests? Why were those who had guns not arrested? Yesterday's actions were treason. This has never happened before in our once once great nation. Why is a lame duck President holding a rally near the Capitol building where the new President is being elected? Trump needs to go now along with his circus.
