The political war to save America is raging and there are several major things that need to happen today.

First, we recently received word that DC insiders are trying to sneak through a bill that could grant statehood to Puerto Rico. We are told the aim is to empower Puerto Rico and Washington DC by giving them more congressional representation for the Open Borders and Amnesty Lobby.

They may vote today!

Pick up your phones immediately and call your members of Congress (House Only).

Here's ALIPAC's DC Directory for your convenience.

Call up and say "I'm calling to tell Congressman ______ to please vote no on H.R. 2499 because an issue as important as statehood for Puerto Rico deserves a national debate first, instead of this sneaky attempt to add a new state to America. Americans deserve to know more about this before you vote on it so please Vote NO on HR 2499 and vote NO on statehood for Puerto Rico.

When you are finished calling and writing to your own member of Congress, please CALL AND WRITE others with the same message!

Meh if Puerto Rico wants to become a state and they vote to allow it to become a state I really don't care.

Wait, are you saying that this is a plot to Puerto Rico some voting power? I thought that this was one of those inherent things about being a state ...

However, I do think our current residence laws are adequate and we would not benefit by having them changed so hrm ...

Right now, Puerto Ricans pay no federal income tax, yet receive all the protection and freedoms American citizens receive. How is this in any way just? Granted, several states would lose one or two votes in Congress, but this point is null. After the results of the Census have been received and validated, the large states (California, New York, Texas, Florida, etc) are expected to lose several votes each; thus, the notion that large states would lose representation is already a fact. The CIA World Factbook puts Puerto Rico's population at 4 million; therefore Puerto Rico would receive only about 5-6 seats in the House, equal to the amount of seats the large states lose. Ultimately, large states will lose one or two votes in Congress (already projected to happen), but the US as a whole will receive the federal income tax from each of the 4 million citizens of Puerto Rico. Obviously, we need that money in this economy.

Secondly, who told you that legislators are pushing for statehood in order to increase the power of a lobby?

This statement makes no sense, please clarify it.

I just emailed my Congressman. ;)

Conservatives seek to block statehood for Puerto Rico for purely partisan reasons. Sometimes I am embarrassed for my country.

Puerto Rico is poorer than the poorest U.S. states. bringing them into our tax system would not result in a net gain for the U.S. Most puerto ricans would pay very little or no income tax, and would be further impedded into the entitlement system than they already are.

they should make their own decision, but I am against bringing them into the union. why not let them have their own sovereignty?

Read this... but not the way you read the Arizona immigration law. I'd much rather you understand this.

From Politico:

Two of the most prominent Hispanic Democrats in Congress are continuing their all-out offensive to kill a bill that would mandate a vote on Puerto Rico’s political status.

And they’re taking direct aim at their leadership.

Democratic Reps. Nydia Velazquez (N.Y.) and Luis Gutierrez (Ill.) sent out an e-mail to members of Congress Thursday morning urging them to vote no on the Puerto Rican Democracy Act, which would allow the island’s residents to vote yes or no on whether they want to continue their political status. If that vote garnered a majority who didn’t like the island’s status, Puerto Ricans would then decide whether they wanted statehood, independence or free association.

Have a nice day :)

Can we just trade out Texas?

Or Alaska? Much easier to redraw the maps that way.

I was referring to the OP, so I don't see how this article is relevant.

Again, as I said, they receive all the benefits and freedoms as American citizens. The United States federal government is already spending money on internal infrastructure for Puerto Rico. Yes, we would be spending money to help them. We already are; maybe their taxes can help with that. Yes, there will be a gain.

I contacted my congressman and told him to support PR statehood.

Wow.... Glenn Beck once again speak common sense. Although I LOATHE the shock-jock..... he speaks what the majority of what America would say...

They're going to paint this as a vote for freedom, but Puerto Rico has already voted and they've already spoken. When they send the delegates to Washington, if you stand against this you'll be labeled a racist.

How could this happen? Look at the immigration debate. What are Arizona and Texas being called? Racists. Anyone opposing Puerto Rico as state 51 would be called a hatemonger. Why do you hate Puerto Ricans so much? Why do you hate freedom?

This is not about Hispanics or freedom or sovereignty. It's about power and control. If progressives convince Hispanics that everyone besides progressives are racist, you'll have their vote for 60 years. But it's more than that.
Why are Democrats and Republicans for this? Because it's not about Republicans and Democrats. The progressives in our country know that this is the moment they've been waiting for; every Marxist daydream they've ever had, now is their time to get it done. They are not going to let it pass.

Do you have a reason to oppose PR statehood other than this idea that they'll vote for the other team?
