Rashida Tlaib stands by Israel and Holocaust comments amid criticism

That Muslims hate Jews is not 'smear' but a fact. And one which is in no way surprising given what is contuuned in their hold texts, the Koran and the hadiths.

No, it's not a fact. There are many Mosques and Synagogues in my city and no race war. Where's the race war if they hate each other?

Its a stereotype. Many may object to Jewish settlers taking their property, which is certainly understandable, but any antisemitism they may have, they learned from European Christians.

What is particularly fascinating, is that while the right drones on about phony antisemitism, their supporters engage in hatred towards Jews and Muslims. Equal opportunity bigots.

Well, to be clear, j brown's body, she can say whatever she wants. While words certainly matter, I am more interested in how people act. At the end of the day she is pro-BDS and anti-Israel. She is no friend of Israel (I would not expect her to be). She is no friend to Jews, but she is a friend and colleague of those who do hate Jews and Israel both. She is no friend to those who want to see Israel remain a safe and secure law-governed country.

And to be clear, she does not have to be. But I am not going to be put to sleep either by her or her ardent apologists.

I've come to accept that the days of Democrats standing up to those in their party who have shown immorality or even criminality, are over.
Too bad Al Franken's grubby paws weren't revealed today. He'd stay safely ensconced in Congress, what with Democrats refusing to act on a tar-smear faced (or KKK-hooded, take your pick) Governor and a credibly-accused of sex crimes Lt. Governor.

Tlaib's Arab ancestors tried to destroy Israel and the Jews living there immediately after the state was founded. They failed then and many times since. Thank goodness and thanks IDF.

Israel destroyed plenty of Palestinian homes and communities, and continue to do so. But hey, that's just an inconvenient fact.

You need to keep up with the news. Since Trump has been crystal clear on his rejection of hatred, racism and bigotry of all forms, and complete rejection of white supremacists and neo-Nazis, they've turned on him in a big way. Now, David Duke and Louis Farrakhan endorse Ilhan Omar, because they're kindred spirits in their hatred of Jews. Recent synagogue and school shooters have espoused their hatred of Trump and embrace Obama.

Being "no friend of Israel" doesn't make one anti-semitic. But it does make one a friend of justice.

Beyond that, you really have no idea what she believes. You are just smearing her.

So you think that both Judaism and Islam are 'races'. How much you reveal about yourself in one short post.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, keep running from your original claim.

I would think Steve King would make a better tu quoque, since like Tlaib he is both a representative and still in Congress despite his bigotry.

Is he a Holocaust denier too?

Arabs learnt their Jew hatred from Islamic texts, centuries before 'European Christians' were much in evidence in the Near East.

Anyone who criticizes an action taken by the government of Saudi Arabia or Iran must hate all Muslims. Iran working to get nukes and you disagree? Islamophobe!

- Literally what conservatives think

Arabs learnt their Jew hatred from Islamic texts, centuries before 'European Christians' were much in evidence in the Near East.

In his seminal book, “The Jews of Islam,” Lewis points out that in the Middle Ages, when polemics against Jews were commonplace in the Christian world, they were rare in the Islamic world. In the early centuries of Islamic rule, he writes, there was “a kind of symbiosis between Jews and their neighbors that has no parallel in the Western world between the Hellenistic and modern ages. Jews and Muslims had extensive and intimate contacts that involved social as well as intellectual association — cooperation, commingling, even personal friendship.” One shouldn’t exaggerate the status of Jews back then — they were second-class citizens — but they were tolerated and encouraged to a far greater degree in Muslim societies than in Christian ones.

Things changed in the Muslim world only in the late 19th century, when, according to Lewis, “as a direct result of European influence, movements appear among Muslims of which for the first time one can legitimately use the term anti-Semitic.” Muslims worried that the British, who came to rule much of the Middle East, were favoring the small non-Muslim communities, especially Jews. Muslims began importing European anti-Semitic tropes such as the notion of blood libel, and noxious anti-Semitic works started to be translated into Arabic, including the notorious “Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”

Yeah, yeah, yeah, keep running from your original claim.

My 'original claim' is that Israel is surrounded by vast numbers of sworn enemies who wish to destroy it and kill Jews. You support the Arabs intentions, I do not. And you still think that Judaism and Islam are 'races' thus removing and requirement to listen to you.

Opposing Israeli war crimes does not mean I support the destruction of Israel.

Hey look another thread where conservatives and zionists quote Tlaib out of context to attack her as an anti-semite without any basis.

Says the libs who constantly lie about, "Very fine people on both sides".

Even CNN is pushing back on Tlaib's comments and revisionist history.

"She also has her history wrong on two points," Miller continued. "Number one ... even had there been no Holocaust, most of the institutions of the current State of Israel were in place before Hitler started killing Jews, so the Holocaust added urgency and international support, but I suspect with or without it the State of Israel would have come into being."

"And finally on this notion that Palestinians either negatively or positively helped to create a safe haven for Jews, the reality is that the Arabs of Palestine, Haj Amin al-Husseini the Grand Mufti, [were] in Nazi Germany collaborating, coordinating with the Nazis [... and] considering extermination of the entire Jewish community there as well. So this was ill-timed, ill-advised, and I think it clearly is simply going to antagonize and polarize the already polarized debate in Washington."

No, what worked was the OP's propaganda. They edited parts of the interview out for you, and you never bothered to check what she actually said.

Why didn't you read the entire discussion? Did you not want to hear her complete thoughts?

Fascinating.

You of all people never seemed to have any interest in Trump's full interview on Charlottesville.

Here it is so you and your merry band of libs can quit taking Trump out of context.

I knew this thread would expose the hypocrisy of our liberal friends and sure enough they come in droves to protect their dear little Muslim representative who was perhaps taken out of context with her piss poor words.

So every time I hear another lying, hypocrite lib repeat the same tired BS lie of, "there were very fine people on both sides", I'm going to kindly return the favor.

Nock off the BS.

Can you understand why anyone would find 6,000,000 Jews being systematically murdered and many incinerated in ovens calming? Because I can not.

Can you understand why anyone would find that the other (approximately) 9,000,000 who were murdered are insignificant?

Well, this isn't fair. I can't explain in any detail how much she's overlooking about her ancestors outside of the ME subforum...

Let's just say she's omitting quite a bit of relevant context.

I don't know what she believes behind closed doors, I simply read what she says.

Not to worry, there are a whole lot of people around here who will tell you what she says behind closed doors (that they aren't also behind) and there are even a few who will tell you what she says when she doesn't say it.
