Rally to Restore Sanity attendance estimated at 215,000

Well how about letting the Park Service officially count these rallies again? Oh no wait, that would not change things since the right would dispute those numbers as well and usually with fake pictures and video.

Gotcha. Because arguing turnout numbers at Washington rallies is strictly a behavior of the "right".

The national Park Service supposedly no longer publishes crowd size estimates, because they pissed everyone off with their 600,000 Man March, I mean, Million Man March numbers.

Glenn Beck doesn't believe in small government. He believes in big government but only in a way he supports it. He's a McCarthyist with Godwin delusions. You can't possibly claim to believe in a limited federal government and be a part of the Christian right or Liberal left. The American Christian Right believes in large government when it comes to social issues. So does the left. The issues are just different. Glenn Beck and his associates believe the government should determine the kind of bedroom business citizens engage in. The left believes the government has an interest in how citizens fare in life. This weird belief people have that the government of 'today' suddenly got bigger is quite unfounded. The U.S. government has been 'Statist' from day one. It's just been 'statist' about different things.

My bet is you don't watch and have never watched Glenn Beck. I really don't blame you for being scared of religion. Your belief in a large central govt. is just a way of diverting attention from you being in the minority in your own state and looking for someone else to bail you out and to put into place policies your state has probably rejected.

The size of the Federal Govt. is determined by the budget of the Federal Govt. It is hardly the govt. that was envisioned by our Founders. Those that attended the rally this weekend are a lot like you, out of touch with reality.

Bit ironic coming from you isn't it?

Isn't it bizarro that The Rally to Restore Sanity has as it's headline performer a terror supporter?

Now that is insane.

On February 21, 1989, Yusuf Islam addressed students at Kingston University in London about his conversion to Islam and was asked about the controversy in the Muslim world and the fatwa calling for Salman Rushdie's execution. He replied, "He must be killed. The Qur'an makes it clear - if someone defames the prophet, then he must die."

Yes, him, and Ozzy Osbourne are going to take over the world for Islam

maybe we should ALL worry less about rallies, and more about actually fixing problems?

Just a thought.

What we have in a campaigner in chief who tells the minions what they want to believe. He is actually spending as much time being President as he did being a Senator. Apparently telling people what they want to hear trumps actual results. You could see that over the weekend at the Comedy Central Rally as most of those people were out of touch with reality and in fact had no idea what reality is. It really is a shame that we have such a dumbing down of the electorate.

Actually, the size of our federal government is determined by the PEOPLE YOU ELECT TO REPRESENT YOU IN CONGRESS. Which is exactly how our founding fathers envisioned it, since that's the system they created. Durr.

I'm really tired of Americans who don't understand basic American civics.

One could argue that about all sides.

**** look at the Rally to "Restore Honor".

What was so amazing and original about it. Main message: Return to God, Support the troops.

How will that solve your problems? Is god gonna magically fix the budget.

Obama never claimed he could fix everything magically (well... sort of) he said there'd be setbacks, he said there'd be hard times.

Whatevers ones feelings are, on your situation, where the country is headed.

All the rally was trying to say was... lets take it easy guys, lets take a deep breath and realise, we're not all nut jobs like the fringes of both sides. And he's right, the vast population of America is not alleged to either side in trenches. Some midterms in these last few years have had voter turnout as low as 35%... you call that a country rising up? Nope. Most people are too concerned living their daily lives, shopping and worrying about Brangelina, to give 2 ****s about this stuff.

That's reality.

The people my state elected is in the minority and didn't vote for this massive expansion of govt. Our Founders didn't believe in the strong central govt. that has been created and knew that power corrupts. The apathy of so many allowed that massive expansion to happen. We will see tomorrow whether the people want that trend to stop. If you truly understood civics then you would understand that the problems we face today are the responsibility of both the President and Congress. You would also understand that Obama didn't inherit a thing that he didn't help create. He was in the Democrat controlled Congress that was in charge since January 2007.

Obama did claim he could fix everything and has been running for office longer than he was a Senator. He also claimed that he would bring people together. He has done neither fix the problem or bring people together. The results matter, not the rhetoric.

The Restore Honor was not a political rally. The Comedy Central rally was co opted and was a political rally.

Unfortunately there are too many that have adopted the "I don't care" position thus we are being governed by a minority. The voter turnout shows that. It is time for all to take notice as to what is going on in the country and to get involved. Please name for me one economic prediction that Obama has made that has been accurate?

No, but God's advice, I'm pretty sure, wouldn't be to add $1 trillion to it.

Yep. Because the GOP really extended their hand in friendship with the current president to solve America's problems...

When what they did was oppose absolutely everything, not offer a single good or fresh idea, and are now campaigning on almost the EXACT ****ING same thing they campaigned on in 2000. Yep lets give them back the keys that caused the problem.

How in gods name did it become a political rally? Did they campaign for one side or the other? Were their politicians that turned up to campaign?

What does that have to do with anything I said or the topic?

It just amazes me that you had a president that started two unwinnable wars, spent billions and billions investing in a foriegn country, and that's cool.

But god forbid a president invests money at home. That's SOCIALISM!

Succeed or fail the stimilus might have... that topic we could debate forever... it'll take awhile to see its actual impact. But that has nothing to do with the topic.

You are absolutely correct, "I won, you lost" promotes bipartisanship.

It does appear that all you have is bash Bush as that seems to trump the actual results of Obama, Two years later we have more unemployment today than when he took office, month to month unemployment is higher in 2010 than 2009, GDP growth is a meagar 2%, the stimulus bailed out teacher jobs which was never the role of the stimulus, and 3 trillion has been added to the debt.

This country cannot afford what Obama is doing. Think that his economic policy will create the govt. revenue to pay for all that massive spending? Obama isn't "investing" in the local economy he is expanding the role and size of the govt. Investing isn't what govt. does.

Actually the rally will no be reflected either way by the election. The concept was to essentially tone down the rhetoric, not to not be partisan.

A good message. I hope we do tone it down a notch or ten.

So you are just as bad as the people on the other side who are trying to get into a penis measuring contest. Good to know. I'm not even going to point out the irony of your post considering what the intended message of the rally was.

What cannot be ignored are the sponsors of the rally but not surprising is being ignored. Are these really the groups that the majority in this country want to be associated with?

OFA also claims ‘more than 400 organizations, representing tens of thousands of individuals’ endorsed the One Nation Working Together campaign – a movement that includes ‘human and civil rights organizations, unions and trade associations, nonprofit organizations, youth and student groups, religious and other faith groups, educational, peace, environmental, and ethnic associations.’

Note some of the highlighted sponsors: Communist Party USA, Democratic Socialists of America, United Methodist Church, International Socialist Organization, Obama for America (Organizing for America), and 350.org.*

* Yep. You guessed it, 350.org is the same company that endorsed the 10:10global.org ‘No Pressure’ eco-terrorism ad campaign that was laced with genocide and child murders on behalf of environmentalism.

I could really care less who sponsored them. It's the message that matters to me. There probably weren't a lot of non-left leaning sponsorships available. They probably took it where they could get it and I don't blame them.

Someone has their rallies confused, the event on Saturday was NOT the "One Nation Working Together Campaign"

I understand that you don't care about the sponsorships but what I care about is the message, all rhetoric that ignores substance. The results of the last two years are totally ignored as the left wants to portray it all about anger without substance. Why wouldn't the American people be angry with the results Obama has generated? Those that continue to support Obama buy the rhetoric and ignore the actual results.

Instead of inheriting the economy, Obama helped create it. Instead of "this mess" taking 8 years to develop, liberals ignore the economic results of 52 straight strong months of economic growth and job creation from 2003-2007. Democrats took control of Congress in January 2007 as people ignored the results to buy the rhetoric. Liberals hope for a repeat this time as they want people to ignore the results and buy the rhetoric.
