1998: In 20 years, we'll have flying cars.
2018: We literally have to tell people not to eat Tide Pods.
What has happened to this country?
Next step, people start suing Tide, the pods are discontinued. All because of idiots.

The answer is that too many people are stupid, and too many people dont care, too many people are weak, too many people have no hope for the future, too many people dont like living enough to want to put much effort into it.

I remember in the early 90's kids on the playground doing the choking game, which resulted in having to literally tell people not to chokes themselves. The more things change, the more they remain the same.
Yeah,
I think that is how David Carradine died.
Yes. During a sex act, from what I understand. Apparently, there are some who find their arousal heightened when they are either close to death themselves, or close to causing the death of someone else.
 Takes all kinds.
It's about the receptor neurons that become extraordinarily stimulated as you are passing out. It was the basis of "hyper ventilation" in the 50's and 60's and has for centuries has been used sexually, bringing the person to the point of orgasm and passing out at the same time is said to be the finest "drug" a person could ever have.
I'll stick with pot

Media of all stripes likes reporting on supposed teenage fads, when really just a handful of morons did whatever the fad is supposed to be....
File under "butt chugging"....
This is my reaction to anyone who thinks this "Tide Pod Challenge" is such a great idea....

Nothing.
Some children (as in, 5 or younger) do accidentally eat the pods. They are colorful, they vaguely resemble candy, and kids put everything in their mouths.
Eating Tide Pods is simply a joke, that you don't seem to get. A handful of idiots have made online videos of things like this; Americans have done equally stupid things to get attention for decades (e.g. "America's Funniest Home Videos").
Lots of people think it's funny to bombard P&G's / Tide's Twitter feed with claims that they ate a pod. As one might imagine, P&G cannot afford to treat a joke like it's a joke, and those same Twits think the serious response is also amusing. Again, nothing really new here.
The only thing that's changed is that people have a global platform for being silly.
Otherwise, the fundamental nature of humanity has not, in fact, changed over time. I.e. You may now stop yelling at the kids on your lawn.
