Entire fire company shuttered because they wouldn't address member's Proud Boys connection
While the volunteer "indicated that he had attempted to distance himself from the group in recent months" Burman and a police official met with Bon Air Fire Company officials on Aug. 14 to address "the seriousness of this matter and urged the fire company to address it."
Burman said he was informed the next day that the volunteer had offered his resignation, but the Bon Air Fire Company chief refused to accept it. A week later, Burman said he received an email that said the fire company's board had "found no basis for terminating the volunteer's membership."
"The email included no indication that the fire company would take any action whatsoever," Burman's statement said. "The Bon Air Fire Company's failure to address this matter conflicts with the public policy of Haverford Township, which includes ensuring that all persons are treated fairly and equally, and that all persons enjoy the full benefits of citizenship.
As of Thursday night, the Bon Air Fire Company was "relieved of duty indefinitely," Burman announced.

Poor guy even tried to disavow the Proud Boys and resign but to his bosses credit it seems like they tried to stick by him. To bad all it did was lose the rest of them their jobs...

You guys think they'll still call themselves the Proud Boys when they're standing in line for government assistance?

Bon Air Fire Company says Haverford Township was wrong to shut them down after volunteer attended Proud Boys meetings

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- A Delaware County fire company says their township was wrong in shutting them down after they refused to terminate a volunteer firefighter who had attended meetings of a controversial organization.

Township officials learned last month that a volunteer fireman with the Bon Air Fire Company in Haverford Township tried to join the Proud Boys, an organization the Southern Poverty Law Center has recognized as a hate group.

On Wednesday, township officials removed the fire trucks and equipment from the station.

The Bon Air Fire Company issued a statement on Thursday in response to the township's actions.

"In closing the Fire Company, the Township failed to identify a single instance in which that volunteer's services to the Haverford community were negatively influenced in any way by his brief association with the outside organization," the statement read.

The fire company said they conducted their own investigation once they found out about the volunteer's interactions with the organization. They said it was a difficult process that required much introspection.

The fire company said they were treating the volunteer as they would any other Haverford Township citizen - "fairly and equally."

They said the investigation revealed that "the volunteer is not now, nor ever was, a member of the outside organization."

"Some of the bedrock rights we all share as American citizens are the rights to freely assemble and to freely associate with others. Unfortunately, our beliefs in those constitutional rights are sometimes tested when the groups in question espouse beliefs in which we do not agree," the statement said.

Action News spoke with Haverford Township Board Commissioner and Vice President Larry Holmes by phone on Wednesday.

The way that reads it's not clear if he was a volunteer or the whole company was. If a volunteer got a whole fire company fired that would be even funnier. Either way it's nice to see towns and communities starting to shun these hateful racists.

That's what they get for volunteering. This should be a lesson to other volunteers in that community where the government has unilaterally repealed the US Bill Of Rights. Let the tyrants on the council put out fires.

A lot of fires in the area? A fire house a half mile away as well as one 2.5 miles away.

You gotta be sad as **** to attack a volunteer firefighter. Is he proven racist?

That's right. If we ever really want to take this country from the white racists who've owned it since it's inception it requires removing them from places of prominence and power in government and the community. So, yeah never you mind Proud Boys, we got this. Enjoy the first taste of your inevitable irrelevance.

I don't blame a community for moving to distance itself from a neo-Nazi Proud Boy. If his mates want to fall on their swords for him, so be it.

Now, get some good rock-solid Americans in that firehouse.

It will be just a riot when a house burns down because the fire house was closed and the other fire house are responding farther away..............

Is it irony or schadenfreude if that house ends up belonging to a Proud Boy?

Being a volunteer fire fighter is a place "of prominence and power in government and the community?" What an idiotic thing to post.

If he went to a Proud Boys meeting, he is.

Keep hiding in your isolated world. Listen to no one but the propaganda of the corporate super rich.

That is the modern progressive-fascist perspective. It is why so many of them are so ignorant and detached from reality.

I am opposite from you. I've attended political meetings of almost all organizations - not just Republican and Democrat, but the Socialist Workers party, Green Party etc. I have attended a service of more religions than I can remember - not being a member or believer in any of them. Unlike you in your message, I am not afraid to hear other people speak unless I know what they will say and agree with it in advance.

Your logic is the logic of book burning and censorship, the antithesis of freedom of speech and of thought. Very sad to see the Democratic Party and so many Democrats become nothing but submissive corporation worshiping fascists, because it is fascism.

Obviously before any fire fighter were to fight a fire, each should decide whether or not they agree ideologically with the property owner and all the residents. Otherwise they would be declaring total agreement and part of the group of everyone there or with interest in the property.

So before actually fighting a fire, they need to interview all the property owners and residents, do an internet search and background check on each - and no one should then proceed unless in open total agreement with every one of them. This also should apply to the paramedics of the ambulances, and of course all hospital medical staff.

What those volunteer fire fighters learned is that no good deed goes unpunished. Fire fighters die in fires. He put his life on the line for others. In return, the local government deliberately set out to destroy his reputation not only in the community, but forever online to the whole world. This was their payback for his good deeds.

This is just another example of how no good deed goes unpunished. This is why most people have become apathetic about others. Care about others and you'll get bit in the ass.

It will be just a riot when a house burns down because the fire house was closed and the other fire house are responding farther away..............

Obviously that local government doesn't care about fires. Fascist zealots only care about their hate and power, nothing else.

Traitorous liberal sickness on full display here; these people despise the Constitution.

They're the greatest danger this country faces.
