People in North America have started developing a larger head. No one exactly knows why:

Americans' Heads Getting Bigger

Thought we could discuss why we here think that this may be the case. What I propose is gravity variations. Due to differing densities of rocks underneath the gravity pulls people down differently depending on where they may be:



Gravity disturbances may be pulling you guys down differently than compared to us in Europe. Perhaps even though you originate here (had not yet developed the bigger head before you went there) you have started adapting to different environmental and geographical pressures there. Now as a response to gravity disturbances you are developing a larger head.

Criticisms and alternative hypothesis proposals related to the issue are welcomed.

I don't know about the tennis part, but we sure have pretty big balls.

Testosterone leakage into the cerebellum has increased vascular activity which has spurred growth. Not to mention the stimulation of the thyroid which is resulting in targeted gigantism in the cranium.

All kidding aside, thanks for posting the thread. It's a very interesting theory, but I have no basis to support or deny the theory.

Edit: I couldn't resist the relationship to the article's reference to rock ("stones") and then the post about "balls." It just laid there and needed to be picked up by someone. I've been up all night in pain with my busted knee and so I'm a little giddy. Sorry.

Awesome proposal. Since it is not known, with so many variables mentioned, you may in fact stroke a potential real influence to head increase.

That's for dang sure. I have a bunch here on the farm, and they allow me to live here as well... most of the time.

If gravity is making my head bigger, why isn't it also making my penis longer?

Is it perhaps because we also tend to be taller? Is it because we eat more dairy and protein? Is it because we are evolving while the rest of the world is devolving? Is it because we spend so much time laying back on our heads masturbating to internet porn? Is it because of the bubble in the carbonated beverages we drink by the gallons rises?

Maybe, but I think it is because our gene pool is more likely to have more ancient strands of DNA in it from Native Americans and real African-Africans that are less contaminated with all those pasty eurotrash genes.

Interesting point. Do you think that mixing genes with Natives and Africans would explain for the majority of head increase in north American people? The real question, did all white former Europeans in USA had relationships to the point of procreation with Natives and Africans in order for this proposal of yours to hold ground?

What happened to other facets? Why are northern Americans whom develop larger heads do not have darker skins (for African relationships) or redden (for Natives relationships) their skins also? Why just head increase?

Look at all the extra crap we have to remember. Our car. Our phone number. Where we live. Where we work. What day is it? What time? ****, people didn't have all this crap to think about before so our heads have grown to allow our brains to expand so we can survive in the 21st century. It will get worse I predict and we will move on to all having award winning pumpkin size heads in the future.

Anyway, back to the topic. Adaptation to what yielded a solution with evolution to thicker skulls? In other words, what do you need thicker skulls for?

The rest of Europe has those things to worry and remember too. We do not have the greater head developments too though. It should be something you have there, that influences all of you, and not us here?

it's because we need extra brain tissue to process the advertising bull**** (both public and private) we are inundated with each and every day.

seriously, though, the reason is probably nutritional. two hundred and thirty seven years isn't enough time for any significant evolutionary change. we're also taller than our parents' generation, and it's because of increased access to calories at certain important developmental stages.

That theory makes no sense whatsoever because both Native Americans and Africans have smaller cranial capacity than whites.

I think that most likely the recent increase is due to better nutrition. We have much easier access to a varied and balanced diet than we did in the 19th century. Just look at our modern supermarkets.

Two nutritional proposals here. The source at NG does mention it. The thing is why are you growing a greater head and we do not when nutrition was not a problem for say upper developed countries in Europe?
