Yeah. However, their reasoning wasn't just because they can. They're fighting for Healthcare. This is high on the list of priorities for all Americans. If repukes had their way, they would openly throw everyone off of Healthcare.
The number of people this affects is upwards of 22 million. The last election was decided by just a tenth of that number. Americans don't care when someone is fighting for them. This could end up really backfiring on the GOP.

They now have one of two choices. Buckle up and do with fewer people, possibly with AI, or hire a citizen who will get benefits, health care and the market rate salary.

Look, the Biden yeas are over of getting cheap labor from Haiti, Venezuela, Honduras, Mexico. We all have to get used to AMERICANS taking the jobs that Mexicans used to do. Soon enough, teachers will have to be laid off, welfare workers, hospital; employees, judges, probation officers etc. I know they'll stick around because of tenure, but this is a new world now.

Hey, you've accepted that the Democrats own the shutdown. That's step one.

Now you just have to come to terms with the fact that what they demanded was impossible to get done with the House not in session. That's step two.

The final realization will be that what they claim they want is not what they are actually pushing for. That step might prove too much for you.

You guys always bite on their "we have to pass the bill to see what's in it" lies... always.

Case in point, as the full quote is:
"But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."

What Pelosi was actually saying is that republicans lied about the ACA and how the people will understand what is actually in the legislation once it becomes law.

So with all that said, who's really to blame? The Dems didn’t ask for a week off at the worst possible time. The dems didn't refuse meetings. They've made themselves available for weeks.
They've made it perfectly clear they are fighting for Healthcare for all Americans. And the Democrat base still thinks they're not fighting hard enough.

Deal with it. You can blame it on the dems, but educated folks know who controls every facet of government. Repukes won all the elections. Now it's time to govern or find a new job.

Nobody at this point knows who owns the shutdown. Give it a few days or a week and we will know from polls who is seen at fault at least initially. If it extends more than a couple of weeks, that will be when the blame really matters.
