Eaves and Lobach were operating under VFR at the time, so AIM 5-1-6 wouldn’t have even applied.
Regardless of which, flight plans include things like departure airport, arrival airport, alternate airports, estimated time en route, etc.
Flight plans do not include ATC instructions that have not yet been received when the flight plans are filed. And they are not issued to pilots by the FAA. They are filed by pilots.
Every pilot here knows that you’ve never been inside a cockpit, but by all means, continue with the posturing.
