Pregnant Texas teen died after three ER visits due to medical impact of abortion ban

It seems they're using this thread to vent their frustration at the likelihood of Trump winning and aren't interested in actually debating the issue.

I think you're right, this incident shows us there's a bigger problem of doctor's competency in Texas. I've had sepsis, it's extremely painful.

How dare us worry about a future where these kinds of needless deaths become more common.

According to the beliefs of many an American, absolutely everything is Trump's fault. If, for example, you trip over the cat, fall down the stairs and break your neck that's because Trump wrote, edited and endorsed Project 2025.

Granted, Trump distanced himself from that thing right off the bat but, as I'm sure you have seen and heard, that's only a reality in the real world. In the world of liberal fantasy it's a complete fabrication.

It's easier to volunteer someone else for being jailed for standing on principle than it is to be the person who is jailed for standing on principle. This is 100% on MAGA scum, not the doctors.
I know. I agree. I'm too angry about needless deaths due to pro life insanity to absolve anyone involved of complete responsibility.

Yes. You want the women to die
No. But some think it's ok for a doctor to choose his license over a woman's life. I understand their dilemma in a rational and pragmatic way, it's difficult for me to reconcile with the emotional aspect.

I disagree. Abbott touches himself every time a woman dies in Texas.

Until that time arrives, doctors who refuse to treat pregnant women in crises due their state's abortion law and let them die need to lose their licenses.

And if they do treat them, they face prison terms from prosecution by MAGA DA's.

i get it. I think it's worth saving the life or at least trying to save the life but as Mr. Person said above, it's easy for me to say that because I have no skin in the game. Because it hasn't happened yet, unless I missed it, we don't know whether a doctor would be sent to prison or lose the license, the fear of it happening is enough to let Abbott and Paxton get away with murder.

Doctors asked Texas to clarify. Texas said, “No!”
Don’t understand or missed it. How and when was the clarification asked for and refused?

We are simply in disagreement over what the right thing is for them to do. They are choosing to let women die. It's medical malpractice when a doctor doesn't perform the standard of care regardless of a state's abortion law.
Yep.. The "first, do no harm" mantra is for the immediate patient.

No, you didn't read that article with care. You just mansplained to women that their lives don't matter.
Well, we are femsplained to often enough, I feel it's my duty to mansplain back to the ladies. Do you have an opinion of your own, that you'd like to 'splain?

I've been warning people about the current Confederates for probably 40 years.

It was much later that I realized how dangerous many of the evangelicals are.

At least with some of the current Confederate racists they have a chance of growing out of their racism. Evangelicals are on a mission from God. You can't argue with that.

That's very good. I'm going to copy that and send it to the 19-year-old girl's grieving parents. I'm sure it'll be a great comfort.

You obviously didn't even make a show of listening.
Oh. I see. And, who is the arbiter of satisfactory shows of listening? Would that be the same people as the Biden/Harris Ministry of Truth? I did ask, "Do you have an opinion of your own, that you'd like to 'splain?"

Another tragedy that never should have happened. This death can be laid directly at the feet of the so-called "pro-life" Republicans.

Don't interrupt while I'm manslaining to you.

Right. Lay it at the feet of whoever the liberals hate politically. It's like when there's a school shooting the issue isn't the nutcase that shot up the school, it's the lawful gun owners that didn't do a damned thing. When inflation is sky high that isn't because of anything the Biden administration did, it's because of nasty, evil grocery store owners that are "price gouging". When 13 service members die in Afghanistan that isn't due to any ignorant decision coming out of the White House, it's due to Trump. I think we ALL understand where you people are coming from and it's a damned shame that you're so unwilling to set aside your politics so that we can actually get some solutions in place for some of these issues.

I think back to when Trump was in office and he was negotiating a deal with Pelosi over the border. He offered her even more than what she was looking to get on the "amnesty" side of things but wanted to end chain migration in exchange. Her response was a resounding "NO!" not because it was a bad deal but because all the lunatics that look up to her would have seen that as a Trump "win". Liberalism is the ideology of destruction. It's the political equivalent of "If I can't have it then nobody can!".

They're already caught between the law and families lawsuits. The domino effect will be having a shortage of ER staff, and OBGYNs. That's the sad set up we have gotten from these states. We are damned in all directions. They thought long and hard about the emotional and physical hardships they've imposed.

Right. Lay it at the feet of whoever the liberals hate politically
No, we're laying it at the feet of those who thought this was all a good idea.

Turns out that's the same people.

You're just not paying attention. "This death can be laid directly at the feet" of hospital administration, and some individual doctors.
