Why did Reagan not do jack squat, to fix any of those things, so that Obama didnt have to? Obama was fixing all the **** Bush Jr screwed up.

The 111th Congress was quite productive.

1) Economic measures - launched longest period of expansion in American history.
2) Financial reform - TBD but no meltdowns yet
3) Health care reform - tens of millions gained insurance, lowest period of growth in national health costs on record, sustained quality improvement

Lots of other stuff became law (food safety, student loans, equal pay, sentencing disparities, etc) and even more passed Pelosi's house only to be killed by the filibuster (climate change, employee free choice, the DREAM Act, etc).

Then the GOP got some power back and progress ground to a halt.

Obama had the whole of government under his control and didn't need Republican votes the first two year, that's how he passed ACA. That was it, ACA. All the other stuff was ignored for 8 years.
