Why do people throw these cards out? I have one 2 occasions had the race card thrown at me.
In the first case, I was working as a security guard. The mall I was working at was being evacuated. I was posted at an entrance to stop people from entering. A black male entered. I said I'm sorry sir the mall is being evacuated I can't allow you to enter. He said I just need to use the bank machine (which was about 20 ft behind me). I said I'm sorry I can't allow that. He said is it because I'm black? (Up to this point I was polite.) I said use the machine and then use the door. I guess he could see the chaos around and apolized on his way out but also remarked that I didn't have to be rude.
In the second case, I and my shift partner got into an argument with a co-worker about her not performing her job. Leaving many things for us to do during the day. She filed a complaint with HR saying we attacked her because she is black. This lead to a mediation meeting. A meeting she walked out of because she felt ganged up when others came forward in our defense saying they have had the same issues with her. Some of these people were also black. She withdraw her complaint. HR found no fault in us just that we should have took it to her supervisor instead of her.
I don't understand why people do this. I'm gay. I have never thrown the gay card but know that some do in the same fashion I have mentioned above.
