So apparently this TV commercial is causing quite the uproar.
Peloton ad: New holiday commercial perplexed the internet - CNN
So I gotta ask.
What's the friggin problem????
How is it some people can find such moronic nonsense to get so worked up about?
I thought exercise and being healthy were good things.

Don't ask us. They're all on your end of the political spectrum. :shrug:So I gotta ask.

Not to some in today's "body positivity" era, as one can see when looking at the linked complaints in the article.
I've never agreed with this "body positivity" ideology myself, although I have an opinion about why it is gaining popularity.
IMO, pure laziness hiding behind a veneer of social justice, as more and more Americans are becoming overweight/obese and don't want to do anything about it.
Instead of striving to eat right and exercise (as once was the mantra), now it's "fat is beautiful" and "if you truly love me you'll accept me, fat and all!"
So a backlash against this kind of commercial is not in the least bit surprising to me.

If this commercial is supposed to be about getting people in shape, then why does it show an already fit and skinny woman going on a fitness regimen? Shouldn't it show someone overweight trying to get in shape? The ad doesn't make any sense.
Because they have to sell an image. Kinda like how alcohol commercials always show sophisticated sober people, not drunk people.
Lol. That made me think of a potential Dark Eyes vodka commercial featuring a ratty old man yelling at the walls at 3 in the morning. That would make a great parody.

People are ridiculous, nothing wrong with that ad. Can't believe stock prices dropped because of people's response to the add.
Granted, ridiculous that a rail thin, totally fit person is finding it hard to do the workouts. Try showing reality, maybe a little plus side person working to lose weight

I checked the ratio and found a high dislike ratio. Didn't understand why either
Think if the woman had been fat.
So I guess everyone was mad that they didn't start off with a fat woman? The comments were disabled so I didn't get to see their input.
No it's insensitive.
It's saying one partner is unhappy with the way another looks.
This is another example of people looking for something to be upset about, that is it.

I didn't find the ad offensive, I just thought it was dumb. What husband wants to take the time to watch his wife's fitness logs? None that I've ever met.
If you take a giant leap and put in meaning that wasn't stated in the commercial, which is what people are doing. Skinny people work out as well, have to stay skinny but also its healthy to workout, and actually feels good with endorphins.
The only absurdity I really found was her being scared of working out, its clear she already works out, so that was a bit unrealistic
Even if the other person asked for the bike for Christmas? And just because someone is skinny, doesnt mean they are fit. Just like being overweight does not mean a person is necessarily less fit than a skinny person. No it's insensitive.
