PBS Slaps a Jawdropping Warning Label On Trump Speech: ‘Inflammatory Rhetoric’ Can Prompt ‘Acts of Violence’

PBS charges a fee. Why would I pay a fee to watch crap?
No they don't.

Also, I still don't see why you think this means you don't prefer Fox News.

PBS executives were so concerned about airing former President Donald Trump’s post-indictment speech that they slapped a warning label on the screen for viewers to read.

Unlike CNN and MSNBC, PBS opted to broadcast Trump’s address from his Bedminster golf course, filled with falsities, partisan accusations, and threats to eventually persecute his political opponents if elected for a second term. Normal stuff, for Trump, oddly. But it was newsworthy as what he said is admissible in a court of law.

But in a concerning next step in the infantilization of television viewers, PBS dropped a stunning warning label that read: “EXPERTS WARN THAT INFLAMMATORY RHETORIC FROM ELECTED OFFICIALS OR PEOPLE IN POWER CAN PROMPT INDIVIDUAL ACTORS TO COMMIT ACTS OF VIOLENCE.”

I like it. This should be obligatory for all of Trump's speeches.
I’d like real-time fact check displayed below.

Your faith and belief that the super-rich elites of Washington care about you and me and that they are working to better our lives instead of their own is cute.

I basically live in the District. I am confronted every day with a lot of blunt realizations about politics in a decaying republic. That's not germane to the topic, which is that a) PBS isn't government media, and b) Fox is MAGA Pravda.

OAN is even worse. They were dropped by Direct Tv. Not sure why.

If it's the carrier, it's probably a combination of a) the content and b) they probably didn't want to pay their carrying charges for that content.

No they don't.

You claimed I watch Fox News, even as I said I only watch a few minutes each week.

Are you sure you are okay? I'm worried about you Deuce.

NEWSMAX?
OAN?

Fox News can't afford to lose their audience. They will not stop and they'll probably get worse.
They have gotten worse. I go to the web site daily. Since 1/6 it has steadily gone down downhill and looks almost exactly like a supermarket tabloid.

Their tactic is using third parties to push their lies. Right now their top story starts with "Biden torched for.....". Going through the story it finally says: "Biden's exchange with the Post reporter didn't sit well with online critics who tore into the president for shirking off a question about the alleged bribery scandal with a laugh."

Their top story is attributed to "online critics"

They are going all in for the far right and using tabloid tactics to avoid legal jeopardy.

Honestly...the world is ****ed. It's just a question/matter of how long we can delay the ****ery to per chance find a way out.

I tried watching Newsmax once, and couldn't get through 5 minutes.

Don't know what OAN even is.
One America News

A dyed in the wool conservative friend of mine from out of state visits me sometimes and he use to watch it as white noise in the background. Fortunately for me my satellite provider, Directtv, discontinued it. I think OAN is even more conservative than FoxNoNews.

You claimed I watch Fox News, even as I said I only watch a few minutes each week.
Yes, you said you watch Fox News.

You also said you do not watch PBS.

Therefore you watch Fox News more than PBS.
Are you sure you are okay? I'm worried about you Deuce.
Thank you for showing everyone the obviousness of your lies and trolling.

No
They don’t
Not according to Google:

“Viewers can watch their local PBS station's livestream on the PBS website and app without needing to donate or pay a fee.Mar 9, 2023”
I pay PBS $6/month for full access to some of its specials, and all seasons of some of my favorite shows. Definitely worth it, since PBS is pretty much the only place I watch tv. You can watch most of current programming without a fee though, iirc. (Roku)

PBS is wonderful for those of us who are serious about knowledge. Everyone doesn't want to be entertained.

PBS is great for intellectual opinion, as well.

Sadly, there are no more intellectual conservatives. I miss the '70s.

You said "intellectual", so this discredits any MAGAts from watching.
Instead, they'll blast PBS as being boring and run by the government. ;)

The difference is that the jackass is INCITING violence that PBS is trying to prevent. BLM violence and 1/6 violence was happening-it’s the news. No one here is condoning any form of violence from what I can see. It’s perfectly appropriate to try to prevent it whenever possible-wouldn’t you agree?
Do you seriously believe that a "warning label" prevents violence? If so, please walk me through how that works.

Actually, you don't even need to watch the livestream for news. That's all free on the app going back about a month or so. But who wastes time watching news? It's usually old by the time it airs, and reading is so much faster.

Sure
You do tend to need a lot of explanations
A warning label isn’t likely to prevent someone bent on perpetrating violence like those who conducted the jackass which was encouraged by the jackass. However it might make more people aware that what he says does make violence more likely and to be more aware of that possibility. And that could save lives.
Clear yet or should I use smaller words…..?

They ain't wrong. I'll bet all those people sitting in jail for 1/6 wish they hadn't heard Trump's rhetoric.

Jake Tapper wasn't having any of Trump's nonsense yesterday either and asked the control room to cut away from Trump's live remarks.

Derp state!
Excellent post !!

Point on

PBS charges a fee. Why would I pay a fee to watch crap?
PBS and Fox are both included in most basic cable packages.
PBS is available for free if you have an antenna. Fox is not.
