Well, ok, so how do I say he is a hypocrite in this kind of thread and not break the rules? Can I just not point it out? If that is so, can I point out that Roland Martin is a hypocrite? .
Yeah but you cannot expect for a rich(financially) father to be supporting all of John Doe's basterd children because he has the inability of keeping his penis in his pants. We are all responsible for our actions and we benefit greatly when we interact with one another. But not when one side is trying to screw the other.
That's an overgeneralization. The thought that the rich should support ALL the poor is just as absurd as suggesting that each of us has ZERO responsibility to our the society in which we live.
"And I know I'm going to be again criticized for bringing this up, but instead of a government thinking that they need to take over and make decisions for us according to some politician or politician's wife priorities, just leave us alone, get off our back and allow us as individuals to exercise our own God-given rights to make our own decisions and then our country gets back on the right track."
When people have demonstrated a pattern of making bad decisions, trusting them to make the right decisions for our future is irrational and dangerous. If we were making the right decisions for our children in the face of the obesity epidemic, there wouldn't be any obesity epidemic for us to worry about.
Getting this country back on track means getting people to behave correctly. If force is the only way the government can accomplish this, so be it.
She's talking about liberty. There's nothing stupid about that.
It's not your business or the government's business what people eat. What in the consitution gives them the right to make such decisions for us?When people have demonstrated a pattern of making bad decisions, trusting them to make the right decisions for our future is irrational and dangerous. I tend to agree with this, and I find it hilarious. I say the more overload the better.
Anybody old enough to tell me if President Kennedy's physical fitness standards were also viewed as government sticking it's nose where it doesn't belong?
At least Palin's aware of the situation: parents are continually proving their selves incapable of properly parenting their children.
Then what do you propose we do about the fact that it's predicted that the majority of Americans will have diabetes by 2020? What do we do about the fact that the majority of us are not in fit enough shape to fight? "Nothing" is not a good enough answer.
Get out there and educate people. That doesn't mean they will listen, but it's not your job to dictate what goes in their mouths or how many miles they walk each day.
Also, show by example. That's the best way to educate people.
Give the government a inch and it will take a foot, actually it has already done that time and time again. Time to limit the government and put it back in it's box. What I or my family eats is no ones business especially the governments. So let it keep pushing and we will start to push back.Getting this country back on track means getting people to behave correctly. If force is the only way the government can accomplish this, so be it.
At least we now know that Chris Christie will be on the short list as her VP running mate in 2012.
Too fuuny, you should make a lotta money.
I completely agree with this. Sarah Palin is right. She's also right that she would be criticized for it.
"And I know I'm going to be again criticized for bringing this up, but instead of a government thinking that they need to take over and make decisions for us according to some politician or politician's wife priorities, just leave us alone, get off our back and allow us as individuals to exercise our own God-given rights to make our own decisions and then our country gets back on the right track"
Its impossible for stupid people to stop. No amount of asking would work.
On a more serious note: I cannot remember the last time I had not seen a President or his wife do something to try and reduce obesity. Whether it was Bush running so that other American's would pick up on exercising or Clinton making jokes about going to the Doctor and reading his results to the public, etc. This is not a beginning of something new, it is something that has been repeated by every administration since I can remember. Which includes three leaders. So really it isn't about government getting off our backs because they have been off in the first place.
This is the comment that stood out to me and is the failure of the positions of folks like you. Of course we are all connected. Like or not, what I do has an impact on others and what others do has an impact on me. Whether we have responsibility for society or not is debatable, but we do not live in a vacuum. Society and the individual exist together.
Anything to get him out of NJ is OK with me.
