Oregon - Another Outbreak of Gun Control Madness from one-time gun friendly State.

Among the proposed new bills:

Senate Bill 501, requires a permit to purchase or receive a firearm, with each permit requiring training but only being valid for 90 days. It prohibit the possession of ammunition magazines with a capacity greater than five bullets, require background checks for purchasing ammunition, restrict ammunition purchases to no more than 20 rounds within a 30 day period.[/FONT]

[FONT=&]House Bill 2551, would define many commonly owned semi-automatic firearms as “assault rifles,” prohibit young adults under the age of 21 from receiving such defined “assault rifles,” require firearm transfers be delayed for up to 30 days for the Oregon State Police to conduct background checks, and impose stiff criminal penalties for those who allow a minor to access a firearm.[/FONT]

[FONT=&]Senate Bill 275 and House Bill 2505, sponsored by Representative Barbara Smith Warner (D-45), would include language from the failed Initiative Petition 44 of 2018. It would restrict the right to self-defense by imposing a one-size-fits-all requirement for the storage of firearms.

Senate Bill 87, would prohibit young adults under the age of 21 from purchasing firearms and allow firearm dealers to discriminate against and refuse to sell firearms, ammunition, or firearm components to adults of any age.

As a native Oregonian of 68 years I have seen a lot of changes in my State, some good and some not so good. These changes started with the influx of Californians in the late 70's and continuing to this day. It seems that they are trying to create the same type of administrative government that they we fleeing from in California. These bills proposed to limit firearm access and the type of firearm may violate the 2nd amendment, they will most likely be challenged in court. All one has to do is read https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/307/174, which basically states that citizens are allowed to own the very same type of weapons the military uses.

What is madness is how we have more guns than people in this country, ridiculous gun violence, and there are often little to no regulations preventing people who have no business owning a gun get a hold of a gun.

But yeah, having rules for such a dangerous thing, yeah, that's really madness. WTF is wrong with these people?

I'm a pro gun person who is fine with some regulation. I'm ok with UBC program as long as there is no registration requirements and prices are fixed at affordable(under 20) rates. I would be ok with moving the age to purchase semi auto guns to 25. I would like to see carry permits recognized in all 50 states.

People are willing to move from warm/dry CA to cold/wet OR? Climate alone drove me out of Bremerton, WA a long time ago. Let the liberals have it....

Actually I have merely learned to dismiss certain individuals to avoid unpleasant interaction which is rather annoying. But had you done as I requested and read the linjk the data you request is right there.

Yeah, They brought the indigenous peoples morality, forbidding them from speaking in their native languages and practicing their religions and cultural traditions, forcing them to cut their hair and wear only western clothing, reservations, broken treaties, wounded knee etc.

Kind of like the more powerful native tribes did to the lesser ones before Europeans even showed up.

Maybe not those things specifically, but mass graves from indigenous atrocities have been discovered, tribes routinely practiced slavery, abducting women to be concubines, in some places human sacrifice, etc etc etc.

Good idea. Illegals from Mexico have already changed all our place names in California to Spanish. And a few hundred miles away, they convinced a state to call itself, believe it or not, “New Mexico.”
 
Oregon is Washington is California is New York is every other ****hole leftist 'Utopia'. Leftists pollute their major cites and dictate the policies for the rest of the state. Meanwhile...this is what the leftist policies have brought Oregon.
